Hello, nice to be able to talk with other 'crohnies'

G'day! I'm a 31 yo male with 2 beautiful step sons and 2 amazing daughters. I was recently diagnosed with med-sev crohn's disease after 10 years of symptoms. Was hospitalised with a fistula infection about 5 years ago and since have been through scopes and all kinds of other tests from specialists. It wasn't until I found a regular GP who clearly just cared enough to follow my case through, that I actually was diagnosed with anything! Flare ups were occurring a couple of times per year minimum for at least the last 5 years which meant that I was off work for at least two months every year. Luckily I have worked for my brothers bodyshop for over 10 years, and he knew that I wouldn't miss work unless something was really wrong. I have been very lucky in that regard as I believe if I was working for anyone else I would have been let go a long time ago!
Anyhow, I was prescribed 50mg of prednisolone and 500mg of salysophrin per day about 6 weeks ago to decrease week by week. Was amazed how much better I felt after the days and weeks passed. A few days ago I had another flare! Back on 50mg of prednisolone and its doing the trick.
I'm very happy about the weight gain as my ideal weight is around 85kg but weighed in at 60kg a month ago. I guess my concerns are with controlling my moods especially around my family and at work. The pimples i can deal with if it's them or the gut pain!
Well I'd better wrap it up so I can read some other people's stories.
Thanks for having me, and good health & happiness to all
Cheers, Luke:ycool:
