Hi! I'm Laura and I'm new to Crohn's...

Hi! I've joined several forums in the many years that I've been active on the internet but I have a feeling this one will be the most important one I've joined yet.

I'm 34 years old and was told that I have Crohn's a couple of months ago. I don't like saying that I've been "diagnosed" with as I'm still kind of getting used to the fact that my body has something not quite right about it that will be there for ever...

Here's a quick rundown of how I've got to where I am today:

- moved house, celebrated with friends and had a kebab on the way home (late October, 2012)
- that kebab made me rather ill in the stomach department the day after we moved and for weeks after
- visited doc after going up to 10 times a day, was told I had food poisoning
- went back to doc when things still weren't right, had bleeding, no improvement on Immodium and was told I probably had IBS
- another trip to the docs and got a referral to a specialist
- started budesonide
- had a colonoscopy (I never again want to take the drink I had to have the day before to "clear me out"!)
- was diagnosed with Crohn's
- started on Azathioprine, still on Budesonide

That's me! I've not had any major stomach issues for months (before I started on the steroids) but last week I threw up for about 5 hours straight because I didn't take the Aza with enough food and this Sunday I woke up with pains in the middle of my ribcage and to the right. On Tuesday I ended up leaving work because it hurt so much and went to urgent care. Since I started on Azapriothine the IBD nurse said I had to take weekly blood tests and luckily Tuesday was the last of the weekly ones so got the Urgent Care nurse to add to the tests. Still waiting to hear back but feeling a lot less pain now.

Anyway...I'm glad I'm here now and hope to get to know everyone out there!
