As has been discussed in other threads, yoghurt naturally contains probiotics, which have been discussed as likely being beneficialy in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Probiotics are basically good bacteria that live in your intestines. They help control bad bacteria populations, which may be effective in controlling Inflammatory Bowel Disaese.
Part of the problem with yoghurt for yoghurt for some people is that they can not digest lactose well. Some people avoid it as part of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Homemade Yoghurt allows for yoghurt to be made with the removal of the lactose, giving you the benefit of yoghurt without the digestive trouble.
Anyways I found that there is a homemade yoghurt machine that is only $20! You can buy it through the Crohn's Forum Store, which will donate some of the purchase to help cure Crohn's Disease.
The maker can be found here:

Note: I have realized that this may not be a no-lactose yoghurt maker. If you are going to purchase it, realize it may still contain lactose. Further research is needed on this machine.
