Hello everyone!

Sorry for my lack of contribution recently, you'll be pleased to hear since my surgery I have been living life to the full!

Just a quick note to say that I was nominated to carry the olympic torch by my best friend who knew what I'd been through and done. And I was chosen, and now the day has come that it's my moment to shine!

I'm carrying in Bourne which is South Lincolnshire tomorrow morning!!

The relay starts at 8:53am GMT, and it's my turn at 9:00am! You can watch it live online too! If you type 'torchcam' into google it's the first result!

Wish me luck.

I'm doing it for everyone ever affected by Crohn's Disease, and I'll be thinking of you all.

Vicky

Wow what an opertunity! Will you be wearing odd socks??

I will definitely watch out for you, have a brilliant time, and be so very proud of yourself.

Congratulations! That is so awesome. My son who just had emergency surgery last week...which is why I found this forum, was in Scotland on his Senior trip (we live in Memphis, Tennessee) and saw the torch being carried through. All the students were very touched by the experience.
You obviously are very respected by your friends to be nominated.

Wow! Congrats and no doubt very much deserved! Have fun...

I've just watched Vicky run so happily with the torch through crowds of people in Bourne.

This is what it said about her on the accompanying text:

Next up is Victoria Ganley who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was 16. Doctors advised her that she may need to look at giving up food but for two years she stuck to a medical diet, that consisted entirely of milkshake type drinks, as her body was longer being able to process food, however during this time she completed the Great North Run.

She jumps for joy as she starts running with the flame.

Surely somebody has this recorded..... I wasn't able to stay up until 3 a.m. to see it live, and looking at the website, I don't see an option to watch earlier footage, just live footage. I did read Vicky's nomination bio, though.

Congratulations again, Vicky!!!!

Thanks ever so much everyone!

It was phenomenal! Best moment of my life! I was extremely nervous but once I was in the road it turned to excitement and I was jumping all over!

Couldn't hold it together for long, as soon as I finished I burst into tears! Haha!

The rest of the day I was like a celebrity, I must have had my photo taken with a hundred people. I even had a baby thrust into my arms!

Totally amazing experience which I will never forget!

Thanks for all the support!

A final word for anyone scared of having an ileostomy....it was the single most BRILLIANT thing I ever did. It turned my life around, and I wouldn't change it for the world, honestly.
