Infliximab and Psittacosis (not me, my cockatiel)

Hi you guys,

I've had Crohn's for ages (and also ankylosing spondylitis), and reading the threads on this forum has been an absolute lifesaver. I've never needed to ask a question because there's so much info here.
Until now.

Me and my infliximab/remicade infusions are doing great. We just got a cockatiel and found out the little guy's got psittacosis. My partner is FREAKED OUT that I'm going to get it from the bird (and my partner has spent Some Time with Google on this, not helping the freaking out bit). I thought I'd ask here as I can't find any info on how much more susceptible I am but to biologics. On the vet's info sheet it says people who are immunosuppressed and gives as examples those with cancer or HIV.

I'm hoping someone on here might have been in a similar situation (obviously that's ended with a healthy bird and person at the end).

(Our little guy, Woodstock, is on antibiotics now and is doing way better. No kiss beak here, and we're taking greater care with droppings and have a HEPA filter.)

Any help, advice, etc., so gratefully received.

Thanks so much!!

You are not immunosupressed but you are immunocompromised.
Immunosuppressed is Organ transplants /hiv etc…
That said per the paper above your in the same category of possible severe disease as the elderly .

never had exposure to birds or reptiles/turtles for my now adult child (he was dx at 7)
Ped Gi at the time stated it was too risky .

but he was exposed to shingles at 8
So despite having the chicken pox vaccine
We had to do blood work for titers
Watch for signs and any sign they were giving antivirals
Very stressful.
Similarly when a pet was adopted and found to have some GI disease
My kiddo had to stay away till abx did there thing

He was fine on both accounts
But neither was air borne
Can you stay somewhere else for a few days till it clears ??
