Hi there!

I am a 23 y/o female very recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease (current active disease in the ileum & some proctitis) after two colonoscopies (from different doctors) and a CTE to confirm diagnosis. I began having symptoms ~4 years ago. I finally went in for a scope after I started having blood in my stool for weeks on end.

Bit of an interesting case, as I am an atypical Crohn's patient. I have never had diarrhea (in fact I have severe constipation) and my calprotectin is extremely low/healthy. I also have a near-normal CRP and negative for ASCA antibodies. However, colonoscopy and pathology confirmed Crohns. My primary symptom over the last 4 years has been *severe*, constant bloating and abdominal distention.

I've always been very functional-medicine forward. Unfortunately, all the work I've done hasn't been enough to reduce the inflammation and reset my immune system. I'm still hopeful to try other healing modalities / diet and lifestyle adjustments, but per my doctor's recommendations, I have decided to start Entyvio this month. I've never taken steroids and it hasn't been recommended.

Thankful for everyone's contributions on this forum and I know just how helpful and powerful these conversations are to so many who are struggling.

Hey

Welcome to the forum

Although doctors don't always admit it, it's not as uncommon as you would think to have normal bloods and even stool tests. My levels were fine even when I needed surgery!

There are so many potential symptoms and they vary massively from person to person. I am glad you were able to finally get a diagnosis.

I was diagnosed at age 19, so I have experience as a young adult with crohns if you ever need to chat, and I have been on Entyvio for approximately 8 years so if you have any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.
