Is an MRI just as effective as CT?

I've been referred to get a CT scan suspected of having Crohn's. I don't really want the x-ray exposure and would rather an MRI. Is there a difference in these two scans in terms of what they can detect/find ? Or are they the same? If they are the same i would like to switch to have an MRI but was unsure if thats a good idea encase the MRI misses something?

Make sure it’s an MRE (mri with entography)
That is the only thing they use to evaluate crohns in kids due to radiation of cte (ct with entography)
Good luck
