Just a little bit worrying....

Ok, so I spoke to my IBD nurse this morning about starting infliximab. She said she'd chase up my specialist and call me back which she's just done.
They apparently looked back over my capsule endoscopy pictures that were done back in august and they think the camera may still be stuck inside me!! They think I may have a stricture somewhere and that's why I've been getting so much pain and can't seem to get off the pred and possibly why the azathioprine isn't working.
I've got to have an MRI scan next week hopefully. Has anyone else had anything similar happen with a capsule endoscopy? The nurse said it's nothing to worry about, but how do they get the camera out if it is stuck?!

It's almost funny.....!

Eek!! Maybe they'll have you do the prep again to see if that clears it out??

Had a weird story last night from someone visiting who had a colonic done a while back. She asked the colonic person (I don't know what you call them - the "giver" of the colonic LOL!) what was the strangest thing they had ever seen. She said that she gave this woman a colonic and she saw a *Barbie doll shoe* come out through the tube (apparently there is a clear tube so you can see what comes out....ewww!!!)!! She asked the woman when she swallowed the Barbie shoe and the woman was shocked and said when she was 7 or 8 years old!

According to where it is stuck - maybe a colonic would work ;) Hope you get it figured out buddy - I'm sure you aren't the first person that this has happened to..... good luck!

Wow I always wondered about that if you have a stricture could the camera pill pass threw I guess I know now. I hope everything works out and the infliximab frees up the stricture so it can pass.

Thanks for the replies. I'll let you know what happens, I'm waiting to find out when I can have an MRI scan first.
Peaches: a barbie dolll shoe?! How crazy that it could stay inside you for so long! I really hope I don't have to do the prep again, although I guess that might be preferable to having it surgically removed.

Surgically removed.....mmmmm....yeah, I'd take prep over that ;) I often wondered if they make you guys "look" for the capsule to make sure you passed it.......I guess not?

They can't give me an MRI scan because it could make the camera disintergrate which could be fatal?! I've got to have a barium follow through instead. Yuk.

Apparently you're supposed to have a small bowel follow through before having a capsule endoscopy to be sure things like this don't happen. Hope it goes okay now though and you can avoid surgery.

I'm due to have a capsule endoscopy and was told there was a chance they might have to 'fish it out' in regards to the pill incase it never reappeared.

Yes, we've gone about things the wrong way round!
My IBD nurse said they could probably remove it with a colonoscopy, without wanting to scare me too much?!
Hope yours goes ok! Have you had one before? It's not very common for it to get stuck just to reassure you.
