I was just discharged after a 10 day stay at my local hospital. the surgeon had to remove approximate 1 foot of small bowel due to strictures and almost a complete blockage. For some back history, this was my third time having such an operation, with the last time 10 years ago and then 10 years prior to that my first one. The surgeon said this last operation was a very difficulty one because it involved resecrting two different parts and there was a lot of stenosis from years of CD. Since being home the nauseas feeling will
Not go away. I have tried everything and every single medication you can think of but nothing helps. I can't even get water down. I'm really scared I will have to go back to the hospital which is a nightmare. My CD is under control with Stelera so this surgery was supposed to finally put me in "remission". I am so depresssed due to this nauseas. Has anyone experienced something similar after surgery? If so, anything I can/should do? Thanks so much

I am sorry for what you are going through. If your doctor's office has an on call service, I would call them. Let us know how you are.

I called and they weren't much help. Basically said come back to the hospital if I feel like I need to. I'm 100% positive the feeling of constantly being nauseous 24/7 is much worse than anything I have gone through in my 25 years of having CD.

It is sad to have this happening to you and I wish there was a way I could help you.
The best course of action would be for you to contact your doctors and let them know what is happening ...it is something that needs attention.
I know how you feel about the hospital...been there...done that...but you do need some help as soon as possible.
Feel better soon

When you left the hospital had you been drinking fluids all right? They shouldn't send you home if you can't tolerate oral intake. If this is a new symptom that was not present in the hospital it could be an ileus and you would need to be back in the hospital. Have you tried peppermint or can you get ahold of some medical marijuana? Nausea is really awful. I hope you feel better soon. Let us know how you are.

I'm so sorry you're feeling awful! When I got home from my last surgery, I was extremely nauseous. In my case, it was because I was taking pain meds without much food in my stomach. I also found out they had been giving me anti-nausea meds in the hospital but they didn't send me home with any. Fortunately for me, they prescribed something and it worked, which allowed me to eat. Vicious cycle. I hope you feel better soon--hang in there!
