Just want to introduce myself

I have had physical issues since i was a child around 7 is about the time i can remeber conciosness I am Dx in IBS which is BS and I have a diagnosis of Psoriaisis. Thats it those are my two clubs. So your thinking why am I here?
Well I read lots of differet forums and really you folks I have the most in common with. Anyway Im pretty sure i have arthritis i just have been to the rheumatologist and i have alot of other issues that bother me. At times in my life i have bed bound with depression and body pain and random other issues.
It seems that these Auto immune diseases are like snowflakes and everyones is not the same. With this said Im atom . I have an application pending to start Humira from my derm because my skinis so bad. MY P is on my face . Anyway :calmo: and am a wet wipe toteing dude.

BTW a a little about me Me and my wife are expecting our first child at the end of May and I just hope the little one does not have to face these Auto immune issues.

Hi and welcome Atom!.....congrats on the first child! One worry I have is my daughter will end up with something- so far so good though!

Take a look around - tons of info here -and about the psoriasis - guess what I developed last year? but the biopsy only 'suggested'...yeah, RIGHT!.....

Anyway - welcome!

Welcome! You said it - these auto-immune diseases can differ so much from one person to another. And, because of this, they are so difficult to treat! But, one thing is for sure, they really impact your life. So, we are all in the same boat with how we manage to get through.

Congrats on the baby - do you know what you are having?

thanks for the warm welcome. I have been reading some of the threads here and the other day i came across the thread.... you know you have crohns if.... and it cracked me up so much because i could so identify with you folks ,you all have a great sense of humor about the condition. I am very anxious to take part in this forum with all you Auto immune misfits ;)

oh and about the baby my wife has us in the dark shes says" its the last great surprise" Personally its one of those weird decisions to find out the sex ,and i would never had been able to keep the sex of the child a secret from her. My autoimmune situation didnt real show till 7 or 8 so itll be awhile to see if the child has it also. Hopefully my wifes genes mix up the gene pool a bit. We shall see. Im excited for the new junior :)

OH! I just noticed you are also from NY? What part?.....

My philosophy is as long as the baby is healthy, it doesn't matter the sex! Although we did find out what ours was going to be so we could get things set up - she was a surprise and I didn't even find out until I was about 5 1/2 months along! That's another thing Crohns' can do - especially after a flare/hospital stay!

Hey Pasobuff,
Hey thanks CD Dad................
Im in Queens near the Throgs Neck. I hear ya on the healthy baby part honestly I dont care if its a boy or girl. I got a question for ya Pasobuff ..You had a biopsy of skin to determine Psoriaisis? Not that its weird its just i guess mine is so obvious they never needed a test. Anyway fromyour avatar your baby girl looks super cute with her arms stretched out , how old is your baby? Im excited for parenthood,Im a little older than the average father Im 37 , Its taking me a while to get my act together and stable with issues over the years and has set me back. But good things come to those who are patient and work hard ....Sometimes ;)

Anyway
I just called my Gp and wanted to get some test results sent to me ..I never do this mind you, so I call and they tell me the doc normally doesnt do this nonesense. well they call me back and tell me if i give them a self addressed envelope and a stampthey will send it.
Wow kinda weird couldnt they just fax them ? what does your doc do ? Do u ask for the results?
Anyway Im trying to get more info and not just trust the doc anymore ..those days are long over.
BTW what part of NY are u in I grew up in LI

hey...I'm up near Albany....a hike from you - but lived in Westchester County for about 13 years.....

Yes- I had a biopsy done - most of my problems appeared last year after 2 bouts of strep and pharyngitis where I lost my voice for over a week.....I had/have what is suspected (by me) to be gutatte P, and now possibly some inverse P.....I had the classic signs of the GP, also PPPP (which thankfully has pretty much cleared up!).....

As for lab reports - I usually get mine direct from the Dr office on my next visit - also up here most of my doctors are connected so they can see everything.....

I have been up in Albany before but not in a looong time. I have only visited in the winter which is a shame because i bet its beautiful the rest of the year. My Psoriais is Plaque type and generally covers my joints but likes to migrate to some other random connective tissue at times. Anyhow Ill have to grab my reports from the doc when i see him as well.
That type of psoriasis is not fun I can empathize easily.

By the way .. My pain in my gut is so ridiculously painful that i have to have an antidepressant to cope and i drink gallons of peppermint tea :) Thats my story and im sticking with it. See you all in the forum area:)

Those docs that make it hard to get your records are so old school. But the law is on your side of course:
"A federal law called the HIPAA Privacy Rule gives you the right to see, get a copy of and amend (correct) your medical record by adding information to it."

I always get copies of medical tests. I just ask for it at the appt, or they will mail a copy. I have had them faxed too. It became important when my Crohns became severe and I started seeing a top specialist and surgeon. They need the records and it makes it so much easier if you just bring them.

I also became a dad late (36) and it's the greatest. I now have three kids, 3,4 and 8.

CDDad , Thanks really... I needed to hear that. I threw in the towel for a long time and was not able to reallly deal with the medical community for a long time becuse of my depression and poor dispostion (I also think I was flaring alot more when i was younger trying to keep up with a social life or work life or school life
that would keep falling apart. Im stable now thanks due to understanding parents , wife and persistence to want a happy life.

So anyway thanks I have been driving my docs nuts with requests kinda and will continue ,kinda tired of letting them snowplow me for such a long time. They are gonna have to work a little harder for my business.

I do think having a kid at this age has its benefits as well ...I am a lot wiser and will be able to give my child or children advice that is tested and real and not theory.
Glad to hear that you have such a great situation with your family.

Hi Atomb

I'm a newbie as well and feel empathy for your condition though I don't have any idea what it must be like to have psoriasis I realise it can't be at all pleasant!

Good luck with your new baby, my children (now adults) don't appear to have any Crohns symptoms, though mine came to light late in life so I am constantly watching them still!

kind regards
Ann

Hi Atomb and welcome!

Hope the Humira offers you relief from the psoriasis and you can enjoy your new baby when it comes! Congrats to you and your wife!

Lots of good info here on the forum and real nice folks. I like your analogy of Auto-Immune being like snowflakes - you are so right about that!!

This is an old thread and i really didnt end up participating as was my intent from my thread. I want to say hi again and update. Im feeling a little better these days . I had to go off the antidepressants i was taking for 5 years as i was getting hives. The calmoseptine turned out to take its toll and it had become an everday situation that turned bad. So I discovered Caltrate and I can say that it has helped me tremendously . I think its acting like a bile sequestrant, because my stools are formed now so ill take that as a win. I have been studying a bunch an realize that sugars and fats are my enenemy because of the . I have a genetic predisposition to Crohns being of a particular genetic group of people I realize. have really been changing my diet big time and am just looking for others to talk with that have similar issues. Im Adam

By the way my baby boy is almost 4 and is beautiful and healthy hes a lot like me and i really dont think i willl find out for a few more years if he has my issues so we We shall see. I have number two on the way now so Im pretty excited.

Great to hear from you and know you now have a four year old in good health
Did you ever see a gastroenterologist and if so what was the verdict for you
Did the Humira help
Congratulations on the second babe
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

Trysha thanks for showing interest I really appreciate it.

my colonoscopies are always clean i believe my issues are in my small intestine
I recently was dx with non alcoholic fatty liver
and a hiatel hernia yay

i have had years of chronic
mouth ulcers
hemorrhoids
diarrhea
depression anxiety
skin issues/psoriaisis
under weight
pain in abdomen for years knife stabbing at times
Joint pain knees ankles neck back

I have had a gi doc for many years. He is my main doctor I did not go the Humira route. My condition was not severe enough when i was at that crossroads and the possibility of side effects were not worth the risk in my eyes at the time.

It took me many years to get the willpower to change my diet and i have had much success.
I really would say that having my child gave me a reason to figure my situation out .
Im really on a low fat low sugar diet no gluten only egg whites no alcohol not much red meat
I m pretty diligent but i do fall off the wagon sometimes but never more than a few days and i take caltrate and vitamn d3 its been better now consistently for a few months and this winter has been good which is the first time ever to have a good winter experience usually i have fevers from temp changes which leads to irritability.
No more fevers or catching everyone's sicknesses skin has cleared up depression is much less and clarity of mind at times concentration is higher as well as focus.
Its pretty good I have dropped a lot of weight but i look healthy just lightweight.
i still have pain at the end of my small intestine but its not killing me anymore.
I believe i am now finally managing my situation for the first time in my life i feel like i have control its been a long road and i am very tired with a renewed feeling of bitter-sweetness. i guess people would call this remission but i dont think ill be revisting my issues if i keep this up.

I think thru the course of be sick thru the years energy level and ability to focus has led to the inability to help myself. Its been a rough road I have not had any resections or any surgeries as my doctors have not found but i cant believe that my small intestines are in good shape and not even sure how to get a doctor to get in there and figure it out.
