Knuckle Lump, Thyroid Nodule, Skin Issues

I've been on Entyvio for some time and have had 5-6 infusions. My doc hasn't requested any blood work since I've started the Entyvio. I do not these symptoms are Entyvio related or I would have posted there. Does anyone else have any of this?

Recently, I have been so tired--not my typical fatigue tired but I could sleep all day. I no longer drink coffee and caffeine gives me jitters but yesterday I drank two cups in an attempt to stay awake and ended up sleeping anyway.

Also, I have this lump on my knuckle. At first, I thought it was a bug bite but it isn't and at times I can't bend that finger. My joints hurt so bad. Hips included. I did find out I have osteopenia but I have never had my hips hurt so bad that I wake up because I need to move. And this lump on the knuckle is painful!

I visited my regular physician as I thought I was coming down with strep. She reported that I did not have strep but felt nodules on my thyroid. I'm not sure what those are, but she ordered a ton of labs and mentioned a possible ultrasound for my thyroid.

Finally, I have rough scaly patches on my knees, elbows and ankles. The skin is ridiculously thick and just peels/flakes off.

Anybody?

Have you seen a rheumatologist for the joint pain? There is a type of arthritis that is associated with Crohn's - spondyloarthritis (SpA) - and it very often involves the hips. Both my daughters and my husband have it and waking up at night in pain is quite common. Other symptoms would be morning stiffness, pain that gets better with movement and sometimes, red or swollen joints. The lower back and hips are often involved, but really any joint can be involved, including fingers.

CCFA has some good info about it:

Spondylitis.org also has good info.

The other thing you mention, the scaly patches, sound like psoriasis. Psoriatic arthritis is a type of spondyloarthritis and is also associated with IBD. You would need to see a dermatologist to confirm that it is psoriasis. It could also be eczema, but again, you need a derm to figure it out.

Spondyloarthritis can be controlled with biologics like Remicade and Humira - but not Entyvio, since it is gut specific. Methotrexate may also be an option, but it tends not to work well for back/hip involvement.

But first, I would say you need to see a rheumatologist and a dermatologist.

Good luck!

I was just diagnosed with Crohns's in Jan of 2016. I am still learning. I have an appointment with my GI Specialist next month and will ask for referrals.

Fatigue has been typical but it has just recently gotten far worse. I am sleeping at least 12 hours per day.

Thank you both for responding!
