Lactobacillus

Does anyone take lactobacillus? I started the pills a few days ago (I couldn't possibly eat yogurt every day. Gross!) and I don't know if they are working. I haven't felt well since I started them but I tapered my Entocort recently so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I guess it's supposed to help with the pain and relieve gas but I just feel gassier:(

I have not heard of this before, but it sounds like something to do with lactose and/or probiotics (aren't there some others that end in bacillus?). Either way I know that with those types of things results usually can take a while to start to work, and even have the opposite effect that they are supposed to at the beginning. A good idea is to go to where you purchased the product and just let them know your situation and concern. They should be knowledgable in the products they sell and should be able to put your mind at ease.

the probiotics lactobacillus acidophius and bifidus are really good and helpful, its one of the very few things other than pred that seems to help me personally. I take about 4 a day and at when you first take them the can kinda make you a little bloated but it goes away

Haha yeah I read that on the box a few days ago. It says you may feel bad for a few days and that it can take up to a month for it to start working. It also says not to stop taking it. Haha whoops. I'm going to start again tomorrow, scouts honor ;)

Its just one strand of probiotics. The brand I take has 12 different species plus I take acidiphillus, plus I try to eat yogurt daily.

What is the name of your probiotic Skinsfan? Also would you share its costs, and how it has made you feel so far ( just curious :))?

Yeah probiotics often make you feel bad for the first week or so then you start to feel better a little while later.

the generally accepted rule of thumb with probiotics is 4 weeks before they get established enuff to provide a 'notable' effect. So, if u aren't seeing signs that they are working for you yet.. give it time. The better question to ask is "Are they causing me a problem?" i.e. side effects you can't live with.. If your reply is NO... then don't question them, just keep taking them... A little extra gas for folks with our condition is nothing... Like, healthy people fart too! It just whether good bacteria or bad bacteria, the stuff inside us lives to give off gas (hmmm, sorta like me ... hey, I just came up with my next Hallo'ween costume)

actually it might be psychological, I always go into my meds with an open mind, that is pretty helpful I think, but after taking it 2 days I started to notice less bm's(with an illiostomy), by the 4th day I had formed stools(with an illiostomy) and coudl tell I had more energy.

I take Primal Defense, by Garden of Life and you can get that from Vitamin store it has 12 species of probiotics, including Soil based organisms.

The principle behind soil based organisms, which Ibelieeve only this probiotic, primal defense, and one other have soil basd organisms, quite new, but the principal is our community and things we come in contact with are to clean...think about it, we are clean freaks, plus get vaccinations...if we didnt get vaccinations our body could build its own immunity intead of "injecting" immunity into us.
