Reality and feeling are two different things...You may believe you are if it makes you FEEL superior, but we all know the truth!:thumleft::heart:

Hey - you made me forget my promise on here again - this calls for drastic action - I am staying off Last One Wins for a week - bye!

Did you ever make apple crisp? It tastes almost like apple pie, but is so much easier. You just cut up the sliced apples into a cake pan and make a topping from 1 stick of softened butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, half cup white sugar 1 tsp.salt and 1cup flour. Crumble all together adding just enough water to blend it. Maybe 1/4 cup. Then sprinkle over apples. Drizzle another 1/4 of water all over topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. YUMMY!!!!:thumleft:

we call it crumbleTeresa but I don't use so much sugar.Les says he would like one of those as well.Bugger!!!......hope you are feeling better and enjoying your dog-sitting.Our friends Newfie,Bosun,Died a few weeks ago with throat cancer. He was lovely, about 8yrs old.

SO sorry to hear that Carol. My brother's aussie sheperd is on his last legs. Beautiful dog. He is just old and can barely get up. David may well need to put him down and he is having a hard time.

I am still sick in the stomach. Hopefully it will pass soon.

I'm sorry dear for your loss...:hang:

We've had 8 dogs usually 2 or 3 at a time until now,When you get them young you feel like you're gonna have them forever, but a dogs life soon passes. You can only give them the best life you can and when the time comes to say goodbye don't be selfish because you can't bear it.Putting them to sleep is the last kind act you do for them.....Then you go home and cry your eyes out.

I totally agree and David said he would never let Bogey suffer. I hope he does it soon. You are a very strong gal, so nice you have all those pups to keep you moving and company.

Have you been inundated with rain where you live?
Our local paper says parts of England near York are under water, flooded quite badly? Are you anywhere near there? How about Robert? I hope not.
They had a picture of two men sitting at an outside cafe on bar stools and the water looked about a foot deep.

It's been really bad.Not the first time this year either.I feel really really sorry for the people it has happened to again. It must be soul destroying. We are lucky that we are 5mins from the mouth of the River Tyne but are about 500 feet above sea level.Don't know about Robert as he's in the south. No doubt we would have been informed if he was in trouble.

Yes, he would've said something about all the mopping he's doing again...
I do feel sorry for them too. Our Louisianna people are still under water in many areas from hurricane Isaac. People from our church are going down to try and help those who need a hand. Bless them!

Time flies - thought I should return. Dry down in the South - it's always up North that gets any wild weather.

Well, I have been on here all day and I am truly feeling like crap. So i am going to go for now. Hope to back on later.

Hi Sandy!!!!! I know you'll be on soon!:rosette1:

Did you fall asleep or get distracted Robert? Teresa, speaking of australian sheperds, my doggie is half that, and half blue heeler. She caused me extra work on my lunch hour today. I went to make the bed and found she had thrown up on my ivory colored quilt...had to take it off the bed, run it down to the washer, rub at the stain with some Era detergent and put it in the washer to soak all afternoon. But I agree with Carol, love my pets, although Jessi is the only one right now. Breaks my heart every single time I've lost one or had one put down. But nothing like them.

we've had dogs all our married lives but Alfie is probably gonna be the last.Given our ages and circumstances It would be a massive consideration to have another. But I can't imagine life without a dog.Hopefully I won't have to think about it for some time, but he gave us a health scare earlier this year so who knows...........going off now Cheryl, hope the stain comes out.She didn't do it deliberately,........or did she?

Our first dog was a blue heeler and when we first got him he was terrified of feet. #&$+¿;|# people who abuse dogs. We didn't have him very long, but he turned out to be the sweetest dog. And he loved grapes, funny dog.He would escape from our yard and go to the elementary school where all the kids would play with him. Once in a while he would get into the school, but even the principal wouldn't call us, he was so well liked (his tags had our names and number). One night I could swear I heard him barking from our back yard. Turns out to be when he was hit from a vehicle on another road.

Also, the last Boston terrier we had, I held him as he was put to sleep because of a huge kidney problem. Doug tried to talk me out of it. I could hear Ashley, and a little Doug, crying in the waiting room. I'm glad I held him, though. He was "my dog."

After Allie is gone, I don't know if I want another dog. It is hard to watch them suffer. Allie is full of arthritis, but she is stoic and tries not to show it. She is whimpering and crying a little now, but she tries to walk around as if nothing were wrong.

Sandy, Jessi is scared to death of wind, rain, thunderstorms. She shakes and hides, breaks my heart. Hubs got her from an farm when she was a month old, she lived outside then, makes me wonder how she did it when she is so afraid of it! Good dog

I'm ready for the day - breakfast done and so are meds. I need to pop out and get my bloods done this morning. I told hubby last night that being away four nights every week is doing my head in - I'm a weekend wife and lonely during the week where my meds do my head in. I swear my adrenal glands are not working on their own. At least he comes back tonight for three nights before he is off again.

No, I believe the problem was my daughter had fed her chicken chow mein, lol! Night hon!

Cheryl, try putting Era and peroxide in a spray bottle and spray it on the spot. Wait 2 min and scrub with a toothbrush and it's uasually gone.:ywow: I use that all the time for everything.

Have a great time!!!

I'm back - I had bloods done and went to post office. I got a letter from my Gastro today - it's funny the problem list takes half the page - key issues is two lines and comments are two and half lines :D

723 you can only have the chinese food if you send me some. Sorry that is the rules. lol :rof:

as for Robert did your mom not teach you ladies first. so hah I win.

To Sandy sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you are recovering well. And welcome to the injured brain club. :ghug:

I have 8 inoperable slow growing tumors that is turning more and more "blonde each day" (no offense to anyone) :ylol2:

Hi Hon, It was Glori who had the accident (naturelover) just so you know. I ended up not having my chinese anyway. My tummy has been hurting really bad for 2 days now.(Guess we have something in common.)Plus my sister woke up with a migraine and couldn't make it down here. The whole day was a bust!!!:thumbdown:Hope you are doing better!!!:bigwave:723

I'd have to say not. My tummy still doesn't feel good. It's not absorbing right either. I'm eating but the doc said today that she dosen't like my weight down in th 130's. She's trying to figure out how to get more calories in me. I am definatly in a flare of what ever the heck I have. Left bicep where blood clots have not fully resolved is swelling a little bit. Grrrrrr...

I agree - lovely day for a win. I went back to bed as I got a headache and then got sensitive to light. It's getting better at least not so bad with the light now

I remember you saying that before, and it would break your heart for the poor doggy. You're right, how did she survive? From her background, I don't mean to be presumptuous or hurt any feelings here because I remember something vaguely about former owners, I think, but maybe something happened outside in a thunderstorm? Her breeding would make her a very smart dog, and she would remember well.

Kirsty, I don't think my adrenal glands have worked in years. Isn't it amazing how much an illness can take out of your life? All, or most, of the routines and doings are based around taking meds, going to doctors and appointments, taking meds, and then the side effects of the meds ... we won't go there, plus feeling crappy. I have had my share of steroids, and I know what they do to you.

Hang in there pretty lady, things will work out in the end. (Can I say that to an IBDer? In the end, get it? Ha ha! Dumb joke, I know.)

By the way, that headache sounds like it was a migraine. It makes people very light sensitive.

Trysha, you're being very positive again, but you're wrong. I win.

Earnellzwifey, I noticed on your first post on "last one wins" how many things you are dealing with. When I first got on this forum thread I would moan and groan (because I feel that is my job and still do), but the longer I am here, the more I realize how blessed I really am. Don't tell anyone I said that, because I have to keep my job up). Yes, Glori is the one who had the accident, but I can gripe because I can fit in the closed head injury club, because I had a stroke (but many years ago). See, that is more me! Griping again! As to the graves disease, I have had in the way, way past an overactive thyroid and was tested for tested for graves disease also, but was told no. Several years later I was told I had a brain tumor, but it turned out my doctor had worded that poorly, and it was a cyst on my pituitary gland, which ended up going away on it's own. All four of my sisters have an auto-immune disease, though, from lupus, to Hashimoto's thyroiditis, to shoguns disease, and a couple others I can't remember. I'm just telling you this so you know you're not alone. I've also had heart issues which probably led to my stroke, but they have supposedly "fixed" that problem. I've had more problems with my heart rhythms since a minor surgery that was the "fix" however. Again, just know you are not alone.
Also, I was born towhead blond, and I know you weren't! I will probably be blonder than you, in all ways.:D
You have a remarkably good attitude, and we will enjoy having you on the forum. Stay around, would you?

Hey Sandy - how you going - My hubby came home early to surprise me:ybiggrin: :rosette1:

Me so happy!! Headache has gone nearly - but no longer sensitive to light.

I'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking. I won't bug you again for a while ... (he he)
Have a nice time with hubby

We just about to go and get some tea - we are going to have fish and chips and I have scallops and a crabstick. Hubby will have a steak roll. We are getting ready to watch cricket and golf and rugby and football (soccer) this weekend. What joy - I am not sure anything will get done around the house

You deserve some time off. I love scallops, if cooked right. Unfortunately, w don't get much seafood around here that is very fresh. Had shrimp, potato and salad for dinner tonight (at restaurant).

made some apple crumbles.1 for later,1 for freezer and 1 for geordie next door.My husband will stand back in amazement when he sees them,he knows I usually only cook to keep him alive. That's not to say i can't, but anything arty farty comes from the shops. He brought the windfalls in so I had to make the effort. And it was.So I will take the win

Good morning all, have to leave soon. Just wanted to say hello to all my loonies!!!:ghug::heart:Talk to ya all tonight if I have any energy left!!!
Sandy~ did you get my email I sent you a couple days ago???

I have invited a friend couple over for dinner tomorrow. So me and my man will be entertaining them with some good food and wine. And our dogs get to play and have fun together.

How about you Robert. Any special plans?

Going out to Felixstowe - it is a port and seaside resort - I like it there - now the tourists have gone! Every weekend is a good one really.

Definately so. I have really learned to apriciate weekends now that I am working. I was on disability for 5 years and when your always home it makes little difference what day of week it is. But now.. YAY for weekends. And I only work part-time so I am sure others would apriciate it even more.

I like the week-end because it's an excuse to be lazy. Not lying in bed type of lazy, just doing what you want when you want to.A bit of sunshine is nice too.

I like choc but I don't love it.But if I have a stash I'm up and down off the recliner every time the ads come on tv.But I do love to nibble at dried roasted soya and edamame beans.Honestly,I'm getting a real health food bore. But I've just had a dish of home made apple crumble and ice cream to make up for it.(I know, cooking again)

Weekend weather is supposed to be lovely here, can't wait. I work tomorrow, but then off at noon. Hoping to get some Halloween decorations up at home this weekend.

I know...the bad thing is, when I work Saturdays, even if it's only till noon, I don't feel like doing the housework once I get home...isn't that sad? So, it probably won't get done this weekend anyway, lol!

I don't really like weekends because any housework I do gets undone faster than all week.
:voodoo::voodoo::voodoo:

I can't stand it.

Also, I'm overworked and overpaid. I wish I could get out of bed or off the couch more. (Don't take me wrong, I'm not there all the time. It is just such a waste.)

Other than that, weekends are just peachy.

There! I'm living up to my reputation.:mad:

That's my girl Sandy! I'm beat, long day. Glenn did a great job at my parents working on everything. Had to order parts for washer, sump pump and replaced the motor in my Dad's car door so window would go up and down. Also fixed mine that wouldn't go up! We had a fun time though and great to be with them. Clynn(Cheryl) I hugged them for you twice!!! I'm beat though!!

Well, then how did you know what 911 was?:lol2:

Nice to see you Trev. It's just not the same around here without you.

You guys are a special group and I mean that in the best way. :ghug:

As for the weekend I think I will still be stuck in the hospital so not housework for me. ;)

And as for all of you that keep mentioning food, you are going to make try and still a pair of scrubs to run across the street to get some real food. :rof:

At least if I am here all weekend I get to watch some uninterrupted football Sunday.:mario2:

Oh and one last note. Still winning. :award2:

Sandy,
I doing good. I have been super busy though. Now that I am feeling better I have been going back to the gym three days a week because I really don't want to gain all of my weight back that lost when I got sick. So that has been giving me so more energy too.

Hope you are doing well!

Trysha, the quiet one. Don't you know by now the Utes are always going to win?

This took a little longer than I meant to before I posted. I've been watching "The Green Mile," which has captured my attention. Never seen it before.

Wifey, I declare you now and forever more a part of our "special group." So is everyone who posts on here, forever more, and forever past, no matter what Robert says, or doesn't. Wifey, I'll eat some food for you, okay? I'm good at that. Watch some football for me, though.

I fell and ended up getting an x-ray to make sure I didn't beak my wrist. I'm going to learn to not be so clumsy! No breaks, just a sprain. wrist splint. I always have to do something to complain about! Even if I bring it on myself.

Wifey, if we can do anything for you, let us know, 'kay?

I'm glad you are feeling better. You don't want to gain your weight back and not so sick so you are going to the gym and getting more energy, and I need more energy so should go to the gym. Does talking about it count? I'm good at moving my jaw!

How are your students doing? I feel related in what we do, you teach your students through music, which I think speaks to the soul, and we teach the souls of special needs people.

Gotta go. It is past bed time. I hope to talk to you tomorrow, though.

ha ha! I wish that is how it works!

My studetns keep me busy, from Bible study to going to their sporting events, meetings, and planning events there are nights I go to bed so tired. Right now I am in the process of planning an all night lock in for next Friday. It is going to be a lot of fun, but on the health side of things, I take so many of my meds before bed I am going to have to talk to my doc and see if it is ok to miss one dose becasue I won't be going to bed next Friday night. No way am I going to let a bunch of 7th-12 graders run around the chrurch all night. I am just thankful that I have other helpers, so maybe I can sneek away to quiet place for a little while. ;)

Oh, I remember those kind of days with the church I belong to. I know I was one of the trouble makers .. in my own way. All I can say is ... GOOD LUCK! I couldn't deal with it now. You are brave.

Ah crappy. My sore throught of 3 days is now turning into sneezes and a runny nose. I gues I will have to remember to get a box of cleanex from the shop today. Stuffy! Yak!

WIN!

Sanni - much as we like you - keep away with your germs!!!

Hey Robert - can I take it you liked the website for Whittakers??:lol2: To be honest it is the best ever!

Hubby likes Liverpool - even at our wedding we have a photo of us and the liverpool scarf - which the photographer went to his house to get as he is also a Liverpool supporter. We also had photos at the Basin Reserve (cricket ground - with the bat and balls and we had a knock around with the bridal party)

Sandy, I'm joining you my leg is currently in a bandage - it looks like I have torn my gastrop muscle again - last time I tore it off my archilles - this time not as bad as I can put weight on it.
