I meant to mention the other day Muppet - if you stay on this thread you will automatically become a member of the A team. Most of the people on here are in the second rate B team - so welcome to the elite!

I couldn't possibly tolerate membership in any club that would accept someone like me for membership.

pfffttt!!!! Robbie you are such a schemer!:ylol2:

I thought I'd hate cruising too, thought I'd be seasick, claustrophobic, crowded, bored, eaten by sharks, etc. Parents took us all for their 50th to the mediterranean in Aug 2010, and I've since had 5 more cruises and 3 more booked. Done Disney adn for me, that would now be horrible for my taste. Too crowded and way too many kids. My kids are late teens so been there done that kinda deal. I am at the point in my life where I want to relax, be spoiled and pampered and sit back in the sun sipping cocktails. To each is own. I'll say hi to the captain if you'll say hi to Mickey from me lol. :O)

Kids don't generally bother me as I am an 8 year old trapped in a fat, bearded, middle-aged man's body.

We also only ever go to Disney in the off seasons. BIG difference. Late October was quite nice the last time.

Well Groucho Marx would have joined - and he smoked cigars! It is a wild and lonely place in the B team - bearing in mind membership includes Teresa, Carol, Dee .......... and Dusty.

I will try and drop in from England, Trysha

Hello Trysha,

Hope you have a good trip over to Blighty. Weather should be mild - 10c - mix of wet, windy and sunshine.

We might decide to keep you over here though - UK needs more Trysha's.

What keeps poor DustyKat off the A team? Oh, it's advanced age, isn't it? Poor old girl. :(

Absolutely.

I set the membership bar very low - but few people have met the criteria.

You only need to pass oneof the following:

You have to be a man
You have to be sensible
You have to agree with me

I can edit my post but not your quote.

The oldest kid in that school is 9 years old. That school is only about 25 miles from me.

Also unless 5 year olds are reading Crohn's forum I think they've heard it before. No problem fixing it, though.

Well that was my fault, I started it with the WTF...they all know what that means, so I am sorry, but I am so sickened at the moment by this.

Oh my gosh, Muppet....would think you would have heard sirens and what not, sure there are many law enforcement vehicles looking for the gunman who is still at large.

25 miles is pretty far in hilly CT. No chance of hearing sirens from here.

The news keeps repeating that the gunman is dead, avoiding earlier reports that one gunman is still at large.

If there is still a gunman he better hope the police find him first.

that doesn't make it right! I don't enjoy that language either....:stinks:

I think under the circumstances you can forgive it. If not, I won't worry about it. I did change it. If you don't change your quote, then kids can still read it and so can you.

19 kids dead and 8 adults. One gunman dead, one in custody. One of the gunman is reportedly a father of a student from the school, but this sort of detail often changes in later reporting, so who knows.

It doesnt matter if it is a 5 year old reading this, or a 55 year old reading it. People are offended by that type of language no matter what age. Now we are a fun group, dont get me wrong, but you really should watch the things that you say. It makes you sound rude, and immature. Thats my opinion, take it for what it is worth, but I am not 5, I am 28, and was offended by the language.

I'm more offended by 19 kids dead right now. Can we consider the lecture given and move on?

Reporters stopping kids on the way home with their families and asking them "What was it like hearing gunshots?" and other nonsense. Scumbags. Let those kids go home and feel safe with their parents.

We can. I didnt want you to feel lectured either. I wanted to make sure that you knew that it wasnt cool to use that language. Lecture over. Of course we can move on. I felt it was important to let you know that there would be people on here very offended by the language.

We had no idea how many were shot and killed, but, still not up for language, God be with them all!:ghug::heart:

Presumably God was also with them while they were all getting shot, so I'm not sure what good that will do.

You are being very argumentitive Muppet. Not cool here. Mama T (723crrossroads) ia an amazing and respected woman. And to bring God into the convo in the way that you did it, was un called for. You can (and I doo) pray for the souls of those who have passed, and you can (and I do) and should, pray for the families and friends and the traumatic time that they are going though. Have a little tact would you?!

Feel like I started this, my friends, and I am sorry. Sitting here in tears over it. Reached out to share with my friends, the horror and shock. Sorry.

Hun you did not start this!!!! You are loved and respected by all on here, especially the A team and b team too. So plz don't be upset CheryL!!!!!!

This sort of news always hits me hard, and I was not thinking about this being a gen pop thread, it's always just us on here. Heart breaking for these people.

Cheryl, just let it go, u did nothing wrong. U didn't say the words. U abbreviated and little ones wouldn't know what it means.

You didn't start a thing. You didn't cuss...and you didn't come out with guns blazing! You are one of the sweetest woman. Like T said, we had been on the phone for the 2 and a hlf hrs , and hadn't heard of this yet. Horrible tradgy. :( Makes me cry for the childern lost, and thr families that lost children.

But no, you didn't start a thing!

it is a sensitive time for all, let's just appreciate that we are all different but for the most part friends here, and have different ways of expressing ourselves, and different backgrounds. it is terrifying, let's just support one another in this horrible tragedy. :ghug:

Please remember folks, this tragedy has happened basically in Muppet's neighborhood. I am sure this is a very sad day for all of us. Newton CT is about the same size town as Kaysville UT. I was just picturing what if it was the elementary school at the end of our street here? May god be with their families.

When he came out with the post he did before he corrected it, we didn't even know what had taken place. Had no idea how many were shot. Just heard about a shooting Doug. The foul language was uncalled for on here no matter what happened in his neighborhood. I'm sorry, but That is the last thing I would do if it were my neighborhood. I'b be praying and trying to help people.
Sorry to you who disagree, but this is how I feel. I am deeply saddened by any and all loss of life in this country and where this country is heading. That is why I talk about God all the time. Because he is what is missing in our country today!!!!

The link posted by CLynn contained all of that information, and that's what I was reacting to. I was utterly taken by surprise when someone mentioned their offense, and I immediately corrected the post, while expressing some annoyance that simple language was such an issue in the context.

Despite my change in the post, 3 of you felt justified in self-righteously lecturing me about the use of a single four letter word as if I were a child, and then I got a little upset as I sat wondering if I needed to call anyone I know in the area to see if their children or children's friends were OK.

SO, I'm sorry that my response was not optimally diplomatic, but yours was petty and ridiculous.

The one about God being with them while they were being shot was even more offensive. I am sorry for calling you a jerk and I am sorry about what happened, it is a tragedy of mega proportions. But as I said before , it is no reason to talk crudely about. If we were aware how powerful words can be, we would all be alot less apt to say things without thinking about them first. Including myself. God be with the families and friends and we all need to pray for them now and forget about this....

However, more than the cussing, I think saying something about about what good does that do, in regard to may God be with them, was ultra insensitive to those of us who do believe in God. I'm allergic to controversy, is the reason I said what I said above. Besides being allergic to controversy, I'm also even more tired of everyone being offended at the mention of God, like their civil rights are being trampled on. what happened to our civil rights, at least for those of us in the US, whose nation was founded "under God, indivisible, for liberty and justice for all."

The issue of swearing has been discussed at length with the monitors of Crohn's Forum.

It is a subject that has no hard and fast rules except when it used in anger against another member. It is recognised that this ruling will not be acceptable to all and there are those that will find it offensive. If the post is reported it is within the discretionary powers of the mods and admins as to the course of action taken. As general rule of thumb though, if the swearing was borne out of frustration of ones condition or a circumstance then it will be allowed.

I am sorry for any fear you have that one of your loved ones was harmed. We have not experienced that here, but I know it tears up and entire community. I am sre that this is a difficult time for you. As Teresa said, she and I were talking on the phone and heard nothing right away. HOWEVER, even feeling like our comments were "petty and riduculous" was completely off base. No matter how hurt or scared you are, a little censorship never hurt anybody.

The comment about God, that was downright hurtful to every Christian on this forum. It bothered me far more than cussing.

Some tact, maturity, and censorship would do you some good. And I am not saying this to lecture you, or because I dont like you, or anything like that. I am telling you this because once you post, its there for all of us to see.

I also feel bad when one feels a tighter connection to the circumstances and feel one's loved ones may have been harmed. let's all try to think of how others would feel. if we are Christians, let's also try to act like Christ would want us to.

Enormous threads like this one can end up being rather server intensive and our server is creaking and groaning these days (I need to upgrade :( ). And as we have recently created an, "R Rated Version" of Last One Wins, I am going to close this thread and open a new "PG" rated one so you can choose which you prefer to post in. I don't deserve to win this thread, so after the next post, I am closing the thread. Yes, SOMEONE is going to win! :D

VVVV LOL. Came out of the woodwork for that one, didn't ya? Thread closed. New thread is here.
