HI, erm feeling a little bit of a fraud now after reading other peoples stories.
Anyway I'll explain. back in about 2009 i had a sudden urge to got to the toilet(no.2) and almost didn't make it. I put it down to something I ate and forgot about it, but almost everyday since then i have needed to rush to the toilet and have to go 3 or 4 times, varying from very loose to almost water. I went to see my doctor and he put it down to IBS and said 'nothing to worry about'. I did some research which said i should make sure everything else is ruled out first. So back to see the doc. Had a camera up the wazzoo, blood test which shows a high white blood count, but it's been quite high all my life. The diagnosed was diverticulitis and ileitis. An hour in a MRI scanner, that was fun, and finally saw the consultant who then said it was Crohn's. I told him my main problem was with tomatoes, weird I know, so then he prescribes me tablets called Pentasa. He said it would help to ease my bad stomach pains, which i already told him I didn't get. Anyway went home took the tablets then after a few days i started getting pains, for 72 hours i was back to the toilet every couple of hours even through the night. I was in agony and had nothing left to pass but was still going through the motions. I stopped taking them and with another 48 hours if had settled down. I checked the ingredients on the instructions and found they belong to a group called salicylates, and tomatoes have this big time, so he hadn't even listened to me.
But my good news is just after my camera I found turmeric, made some and started taking it, i did also try and tell the consultant this but he seemed in a hurry that day. I have taken pain killers for years for arthritis and when the turmeric started to work i haven't taken any since. I had a blood test in October 2015 then in December, my white count was 23 then 25. then i had a test in march of this year, after the turmeric was doing it's stuff and my count was down to 18, the lowest it's ever been.
So I guess I'm asking if anyone else has had anything like me. I'm looking for some 'safe' foods. I don't have a problem with dairy or gluten but tomatoes are a big no no. had baked beans the other night without thinking and boy did i need the loo.
anyway thanks for letting me join and listening to my rather boring story
