may have colon cancer not chrons

so i went for my colonoscopy and they found 4 tumors on my colon. They removed the tumors did a biopsy on the tumors as well as my tissue and my lymphnodes. I will find out in two weeks if they are cancerous. I am a single mom of a five yr old boy and scared shitless. not sure what to do. I am only 30 yrs old. the dr waS sure it was chrons but now not sure. just need some reassurance things are going to be okay. scared so bad that my son will be an orphan. i was really hoping it was chrons because it was at least treatable. Dr says It may be ibd on top of it. My school funding has been cut off becaue ivebeen so sick and had to drop almost all my classes and now the funding agency says i may not be able to attend university next year because of ,my withdrawl of courses this semester. I am afraid i may have to go on welfare which doesnt even cover my rent. Worried about chemo and the effects on my lil boy and how im going to provide for my son. Just needed to vent and hope someone will understand.

thanks
michelle

Oh, Michelle. Nothing I want to say seems right. I am glad that you have decided to join us. We are here for you in any case. I have heard that colon cancer is one of the most treatable cancers. I've known a couple of people who have found it in times. Before I was diagnoses with Crohn's Disease my doctor found a polyp and removed it. It was sent away to pathology and it was a pre-cancerous one. There is also colon cancer in my family along with Crohn's Disease, so I have to go through colonoscopies more often than most. Here's a hug for you, sweetie. You will be in my prayers.

Hey Ruby - I am also from Ontario.
I am sorry you are having a difficult time. If they are not sure...then it sounds like they caught it early and like Andigirl said, it is fully treatable. I would be freaked out as well - anyone would but please keep thinking they dont know what it is yet and worrying wont help things... please stay positive - it would suck to have worried for nothing.
Think positive
and welcome to the forum :D

Ruby, as one single mum to another, my heart really goes out to you. The wait for results is agonising I know. Do you have friends and family who can help you through this? You know for sure you have friends on here, so please keep in touch and let us know how you get on

Hi Ruby - here is hoping for the best outcome.....looking on the brighter side - are you sure it was tumors and not polyps that were found? Polyps can be common, and if they are the first ones the doc could be cautious and testing for everything.....

Please keep us updated......

Hi Ruby,
I had Dysplasia (pre cancerous changes) in my colon and rectum that, along with severe Crohn's, led to removal of my colon.

2 weeks is so long to wait for these results, lets just hope they are benign. If not, colon cancer is very treatable (unfortunately by removal of part or all of the colon) and you can live a long life this way. I plan to! Yes, I have an Ileostomy and 3 little kids, and I am doing very well with it. It really causes zero problems in my life. Removing my colon was just the price to pay to ensure a long life for my kids.

I hope I don't sound harsh about the prospect of colon surgery. Just take one step at a time. I also had a mass in my colon for my first operation that was just a mass of benign pseudopolyps.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Michelle, my thoughts and prayers are with you! And my friends are right, if it is cancer, colon cancer is treatable. But let's pray it is a false alarm!
