My story in a nutshell of being fit to being in denial and broken health

For years I was told that wheat was the cause of my stomach problem's and I wasn't celiac.
I have also been told my joint and limb pain was psoriatic arthritis which the medication made my stomach worse.

This has been going on seven years plus and I asked for a second opinion to be told I have never had arthritis.

Earlier this year I reached a point when I couldn't break wind in public and a couple of very public place accidents and sleeping a lot- booked to see doctor and he didn't want to know.

Middle of the year I have a week of cronic trots which left me sleeping on a floor or hours on the toilet, as it progressed I ended up having two home visits and admitted to hospital.

Which a polish nurse and a doctor both wanted me looked at by specialist, but the doctor has to inform GP and then GP contacts specialist-crazy.

So deciding the GP had done nothing previously and showed little concern that imodium wouldn't touch it-changed practices.

New doctor thought fibromyalgia and gave me 10mg amitriptyline for joint pain, sweating and shaking-Booked of to see a bowel specialist.

Colder damp weather came and it felt like being punched and couldn't get out house, prescribed co-codomol.

I did some research and asked doctor if I could try co-phenotrope as I read it worked when Imodium didn't. Now instead of a week of trots-tablet and hour and I'm mobile.

Went for mri and had 1.5litres of wall paper paste to drink- cronic toilet visit and managed mri. Part way through buscapan and another visit to toilet at the end of scan.

Nurse said I could now take tablets-had to sit as couldn't write own name after buscapan and other tablets above.

Waiting for follow up specialist appointment, can't lift much or much energy and I hate taking tablets.

I've never been really ill and from can do out in weather to useless is hard to get to grips with.:sign0085:

Hi Broken!
Welcome to the forum! I am sorry to hear that you have been feeling so bad, and that you have gotten the run-around from your doctors. I hope that you can get in to see a specialist soon and get a diagnosis...or at least some clarity so that you can get some relief.

Have you had any tests yet? Have any doctors suggested that you might have Crohns or Colitis? What medications are you taking right now?

Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to the forum, Broken!

I think Lisa covered most of my questions, but I'm also wondering if you have been diagnosed with Crohn's or another form of IBD? Are there any other possibilities? Were you officially diagnosed with fibromyalgia?

I hope things get better for you soon!

Hi Lisa, I'm taking
Co-codomol 8 tablets a day.
1 10mg amitriptyline at night

Have co-phenotrope aka Lomotil can take upto 4 a day, so far maximum of 2 occasionally.

Had endoscopy down throat and last year a flex sigmoidoscopy- that was an experience and half.
Enema with what looked like a burger :poo:bar sauce bottle and a nurse with bedside manner of KGB.

Then four women who decide to put a gloved finger up your bottom, after that a CCTV camera up there and blow air into you to inflate you.
Not an experience I wish to repeat.

Specialist seems really focused and determined to get to bottom of it

Hi Broken

When I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy my Dr figured out pretty fast that i had Crohns decease from the images of my insides in-fact during the procedure I got a look at the TV screen while my Dr was doing the procedure and she showed me this white stuff all over my small intestine, it was an awful procedure but It was interesting seeing my insides none the less. If you have been through this god awful painful procedure your Dr should have a good idea whether or not you have Crohns decease but that's just my personal experience.

Best wishes

Mark

Also i was told pain killers really make crohns decease worse so i would talk to your Dr about the pain killers your taking in relation to making your pain actually worse in the long run if you do have a bowel related illness.
