Needing some advice - feeling stressed :(

Hi,
I've never actually posted here before but everytime I went to google for some insight I always ended up on this forum so I thought perhaps I could get some opinions here.

I don't have Crohn's but am recovering from two perianal abscesses :( I'll explain my story below.. Pre-warning it's long!

I thought I had a fissure in Jan, I kept feeling a weird 'pop' feeling and then a 'flap' feeling.. Three doctors could find anything so they just called it a fissure because it looked red in one area on my bottom hole. After going through pain for almost a month one night it became so unbearable, I couldn't walk or sit, so I went to emergency at the hospital and the doctor discovered two perianal abscesses side by side either side of my bottom hole. Surgery to drain them was performed the next day, I had drains in for a week and then they were removed. Four days later I was back at the hospital, the abscesses had refilled. I had to wait to go see the specialist now.

A couple of weeks later I saw the specialist and he confirmed I would need a seton.. Fast forward and I got my seton placed in on the right side as they said I only had one fistula. All was good for 3 days then the left side filled up again after a bowl movement - back to trouble sitting and walking - back to emergency. Turns out I had an infection and was given IV antibiotics and kept over night. The next morning the specialist came back to tell me I shouldn't have stayed over night because nothing was wrong, despite another doctor who saw me previously agreeing there was something on the left side. So I was sent for an MRI then came back two weeks later for results. I was meant to see the top specialist at this appointment but I ended up seeing the lady who agreed there was something there. At the time of this appointment my seton seemed to be behaving and I was having no issues with the left side. The MRI showed another fistula on the left side but only small with one opening, so I was sent on my way to come back in two months.. Ever since I've had problems.

Another infection, treated with oral antibiotics and the left side continues to collect pus/blood that I have to press on to drain. The worst of it came yesterday have I struggled with two separate bowel movements. I always have some discomfort after a bowl movement (is this normal?) but it is worse now. Since yesterday I've been going to the toilet and wiping pus, bright blood from the seton and pushing out more pus :( my bottom feels very swollen, the left side is feeling really irritated and I basically feel like I can't go back to the hospital because last time they made me feel like I was just a bother to them :( I don't know if any of this is normal. I can deal with the seton but the left side seems to just be getting worse.

Sorry for the essay, I just thought it would be better to get the whole story out and I feel really lost with this. As supportive as my family is they don't quite get the extent of the pain I'm in and I'm causing alot of havoc by having to have family step in and watch my sons while my husband is at work and I have days like today where I can't move out of pain :(

Hi. I am sorry for all you are going through. Sounds like maybe you should have stayed in the hospital longer. When is your next appointment?

Maybe you should call your doctor and let them know you are getting worse.
I'm going to see my regular Dr on Tuesday but I can't call the hospital specialists unfortunately. When I last saw them they just said because I can release the pus myself that's how I just have to manage it.

Oh dear, I'm sorry you are having all this trouble. It sounds awful. I wonder if you could ask your regular doctor to refer you to another specialist? To me it seems you are not getting enough information or support from the one you have. I would be wanting to know if there is some underlying condition causing you to have these fistulas.

Hi, thanks for your reply. My dad actually found the number of a specialist in our city the other day so I am going to give them a call as soon as I can. Hopefully I can get more answers because it all doesn't seem right. I'm still getting bleeding from the fistula :(

Who'd have thought such a small area could cause such big troubles.
