New FDA Warning on Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics (including Cipro and Levofloxacin)

I know these antibiotics are occasionally used in some Crohn's treatment protocols, so I wanted to share this newly issued FDA warning.

I actually experienced these side effects from levofloxicin, and was lucky that I don't think it did any permanent damage. The link below has a post from U.S. gastroenterologist Dr. William Chamberlin and includes a link to the full FDA News Release. Probably a good thing to discuss with your prescribing doctor.

In 2011 I got peripheral neuropathy from Flagyl (metronidazole). I was taken off as soon as my toes went numb, but there was enough in my system that I ended up walking with a cane for over a year. Five years later, my feet are still numb, and I have some problems with my hands. So if anyone gets any numbness, go to a doctor asap. I don't think it's very common, but it happens.
