New here, new to colectomy

Hi all. I'm new here and am 5 weeks out from having
My total colectomy with reattached rectum. I dont even know
What kind of title I have lol. It all happened so fast. One day I called
My GI docs office because of terrible constipation that I've had like all
My life, and he did a upper and lower scope, then 2 weeks later after a

Sitz marker test he told me in one week I was having the surgery.
My upper and lower parts of my colon were not functioning at all.. And that
All these years of looking like I was 6mo pregnant with incredible pain and constipation would end. I wouldn't poop for up to 2 weeks, with laxatives and everything!
So, here I am... Large colon gone, pooping a few times a day.. A flat but constantly hungry belly and tho not the same pain, constant gripping pain.
I wonder when things or if things will get back to a sort of normal.
Like, sex, when is that possible and what to expect pain wise.. Lifting my self out of bed.. Ya know normal.

Thanks for reading and feed back.

Welcome! Do you have a formal diagnosis? It can be very hard because sometimes doctors don't know!

I have a friend who needed an ostomy after lifelong severe constipation like you. They told her she has IBS but clearly something is very wrong.
