new need some advice please

I am having alot of trouble. my trouble began 8 months ago when i developed a anal fissure. having trouble with my anal area. in the last month i have had diarrhea and then constipation. i sometimes have black stool and some mucous in it. I have lost 21 pounds in 1 month and i do not know why. i also have had previously some sores on the gums of my mouth. i am seeing a colon retal doctor for the anal fissure but she doesnt seem to want to run any more tests on me and i dont understand this. do you all think that i should go to another colon retal surgeon or make a appt with a gastro doc? I really need some advice and thanks..

Hi Jenny, you seem to have alot of IBD symtoms, classic ones. You should see a doctor preferrably a Gastroenologist, (different from internists) and find one who specializes in Crohns. If we had your state that you lived in someone from your state could help you. I find a colonoscopy would help. Do you have any pain in the stomach area? Bloat? Dont give up finding out what is wrong, because if it is crohns you need to be treated. Let us know where you are located ok. Hope you find some answers.

Hi Jenny, welcome to the forum. I agree with what Pen said, you should get referred to a gastroenterologist. I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but I've heard a lot of great things about the Cleveland Clinic. The CCFA (Crohn's and Colitis foundation of America) has a doctor locator function on their website that may also help you find a specialist in your area. Here's the link:

I hope you get some answers soon! Nobody should have to suffer like this.

thanks everyone who has responed to me. i am going to a gastro doc in columbus on thurs. i am also going to see my colon rectal doc on friday. i feel like i really have something else going on beside a fissure and they docs need to help me. i am going crazy after 8 months of living with pain in the anal area and now new problems with weightloss, mouthsores, sometimes diarrhea and sometimes constipation.
