• Welcome to Crohn's Forum, a support group for people with all forms of IBD. While this community is not a substitute for doctor's advice and we cannot treat or diagnose, we find being able to communicate with others who have IBD is invaluable as we navigate our struggles and celebrate our successes. We invite you to join us.

New Study on MAP in Crohn's Recruiting Volunteers in Orlando

Human Paratuberculosis Foundation is looking for:

60 adult Crohn's disease patients (with active disease)
150 adult Healthy Controls

Our study seeks to confirm that Crohn’s disease patients have a significantly higher rate of Mycobacterium avium spp. paratuberculosis (MAP) infection than individuals that do not have Crohn’s, and to compare more recent rapid culture methods from multiple laboratories.

Consenting study patients will provide a blood sample, which will be tested for MAP in the blinded laboratories that will be blinded to the identity of the participants.

**There is no cost to participate in the study, but we ask that each Crohn's disease patient recruit 2 healthy control subjects who agree to also be tested.**

This is really exciting! It is a blinded study which will help enormously in acceptance of this theory. It is really the only way to gain legitimacy I believe. And it is such an amazing effort on the part of the scientists to do this! Only the cost of the chemicals .... $40,000! That is NOTHING! I bow down to them all and say thank you!!!
