New to Crohns

So ive recently been diagnosed with Crohns Disease, I have my MRI in a few weeks and thankfully a chat with the specialists in 4 weeks!!

I was also diagnosed with malnutrition and have been put on Vital 1.5 Kal drinks, they aren't the nicest things after having three a day.

I have been keeping a food diary, but even with keeping my diary it's still too difficult to pin point exactly what is causing endless stomach cramps, I'm trying to change what I'm eating each time to no happy ending. I'm keeping a pain diary too, its just constant pain/cramps in the stomach both ides of lower abdomen and a lot under my left rib at the bottom, please tell me someone else is going through this, the GP's have told me that this is normal but am I supposed to have a constant flare up? And just constant pain even if it is just an annoying dull pain! (2/10 on the pain register is about constant) the pain sometimes spreads to lower back and shoulders I swear I'm just falling apart!!

welcome to the world of navigating complex disease. What you describe is normal. Are they going to put you on any meds in addition to the nutrition drinks?

You may need medication to bring you into remission or atleast better control your symptoms. They may be waiting for the mri to make that determination.

haha thank you!! It's actually nice to hear that this is normal rather then just the doctors saying this, as doctors sometimes just like saying things -_- as well as my drinks I am on Prednisolone for 4 and a half more weeks, Colecalciferol for the same amount of time and my nice new doctor has given me Lansoprazole to protect my stomach a little better from the steroids, but all these are short term I'm guessing after MRI I might get something else, atleast its all in order and all appointments are made :)

The only downside is it's been impossible to work some days and currently about to begin my 4th week of sick leave, was only diagnosed 4 weeks ago so not massively bad I know but I get bored at home :')
