Hello all

I have been searching the net for a support forum for Crohn's disease and have found this community. I was diagnosed with crohn's disease in march 2013. I have had COPD since I was 15. For me it all started with what I thought was the stomach flu. Myself and two others at my work were sick so it seemed quite reasonable to assume we all had the same bug. I would find myself constantly having showers just to run the hot water on my stomach. After a few days it continued to get worse. By the end of the week I was in a lot of pain and asked my husband to take me to the hospital. I was triaged, had blood work taken (mainly to rule out a etopic pregnancy which I had experienced before) and given pain meds. I was sent for xrays and after and exhausting wait was sent home (now 2am) and told to come back in the morning for an ultrasound. The hospital called me at 7:30 and I was told to come in asap. We arranged for care for our son and then my husband took me back to the hospital (8:15am). I was brought in pretty quickly which I was greatful for. By this time the pain meds were wearing off and I was hurting. The u/s was excruciating, the tech was a nice as possible. After the u/s I was back to triage. About an hour later I was called back in and had an iv started. Still no pain meds I waited another 1/2 hour. I was then asked to drink two large cups of what looked like water (keep in mind I can't keep ANYTHING down right now). I was told to try so I did. Yeah not much stayed down :(. I was sent for a ct. After the ct I was sent back to triage where I waited for 2 hours...seriously!...no pain meds. Finally I had enough and demanded something for the pain....please know I am a person who avoids taking even advil for a bad headache...so for me this was a big deal. Finally a specialist came to see me. I was told I was being admitted, that they suspected some type of bowel disease and that yhe test showed some significant blockage. The next two days were a blur. I had surgery. They removed 16" of small intestine, my illieum, cecum and appendix. I suffered many complications from the surgery and infections from a perforation I had somewhere. I was in hospital a month. I was diagnosed somewhere in there offically with crohns disease. Now I have good days and bad days but I am determind to not let this diease control my life.

I should add I am now on remicade, bi weekly B12 shots, and a powder to help with constant bathroom trips. I was doing well until recently as I am experiencing pain in my sides and more frequent trips to the bathroom as well as extreme fatigue.
