Newly diagnosed

I was diagnosed with CD after a routine colonscopy. I have only intermittent diarrheah, tired a lot, occassional heartburn. Now I have to under go all these tests and my doctor is going to confer with his colleagues. Without symptoms to treat or not to treat? 52 yo female.

Can I ask how they diagnosed you after a colonoscopy... i.e. What did it show please as I am still waiting for a diagnosis at the moment xxx thank you x

It's good that they've found it before it's had chance to make you very ill. Hopefully they can get in there with meds that suit you and keep it that way :)

Kad64:

I was first diagnosed with gastroduodenal crohn's following a period of extreme anemia and an endoscopy. I had severe ulceration and a stricture in my duodenum. After being fairly well on supplements and PPIs everything fell apart and the crohn's is more in my jejunum and ileum at the moment, which they saw on CT scan but not on pillcams or colonoscopies. Because crohn's doesn't produce uniform inflammation but follows a skip pattern they just didn't see it when they scoped me; the jejunum is hard to image and very difficult to biopsy. I even had one specialist tell me I didn't have crohn's or celiac disease (diagnosed 3 years prior to crohn's) but was simply stressed. It took me a bit to realize that doctors often don't believe other doctors but want to "see" what's wrong themselves.

Good luck with everything.
