I believe my son's BMs came regularly after his colonoscopy??? Did the doctor say that this might be a side effect? Has constipation been a symptom of your son's Crohns before?

Sorry for all questions and no answers  but I'm thinking that no BMs for four days is not a side effect from from the colonoscopy alone.

Hopefully, someone else with more experience in this will be along. :ghug:

I don't think my son had any issues after the colonoscopy apart from some stomach pain. As far as I know lactulose is fine to give - you could try another dose and then if that doesnt' work then best get him checked out at a doctor.
Might be worth phoning the ward that he had the colonoscopy in. I sometimes find that my GP doesnt' always know what's ok to give for kids with tummy issues.

Finally something I know all to well.
My Grace ares ( how do you spell that kind of airs?:shifty:) on the side of constipation. She gets 3 doses of MiraLax (lactulose)
She went 5 days without a BM and we had to pay the consequence.
She was in major pain. Pushed way to hard for way to long and got a prolapse.
We use a Glycerin enema instead of a suppository. It will help get the stool out.
Plus it is non medicated so we use it if she doesn't have on by night fall.
The danger if one waits to long is impaction or complete blockage.
Call your GI nurse and see what they say.
I hope all gets moving soon.

We love to do POO POO DANCE AROUND HERE!:dance::dance:
Some of these parents love to use the dancing poo but I'm way to dignafied for that.
Dancing bananas seem more civilized.:D

Heys guys I gave him 10 ml of lactulose and made him drink nearly a pint of water incase he was a bit dehydrated, that was at 3.30 today and he has just done the tiniest rabbits dropping ever he said wow mummy this is gona be a whopper and he looked round and said boris does bigger than that lol boris is our 10 week old lurched puppy lol. I'm going to ring ward in the morning see if anything happens in the night he has no tummy ache yet but I'm worried if it's to hard coming out he will get a fissure then the trauma begins . Thanks guys and farmwife thank u .x

Hey yes spoke to his consultant I was very impressed he rang me personally I think it's cause I took him into a room and let loose on him when he was going to sent him home on his last per anal abscess lol he he told me to give him 2packets ov movicol over 3hours , he thinks because his bowl isn't working properly we gotta keep his poo very loose to stop impaction , just waiting for day to go to the play specialist now and then for remicade treatment , dos any one no if he,ll have o take other Meds aswell as the remicade or will the remicade be enough, the dic had said well discuss when he goes in to see him next. Thanks for asking dusty.xx

Ah...time for our standard reply...it is an individual thing. My daughter and a bunch of others here are not on anything other than Remicade but hop on and off other things when flaring or when Remicade seems to need a helping hand. My daughter does EN, some do prednisone etc. There seems to be a move by a lot of docs to add Methotrexate right away to help not build antibodies to the Remicade also. Let us know what he says.

I hope Lewis goes soon!

Hi Lewis's mum,
Just wanted to say hi and tell you my daughter caitlyn had an MRI with barium last week and now she is having constipation for the first time ever. She actually was a little constipated prior to the MRI but went once after and now has been constipated again, very strange for her. Anyway I hope your son goes soon and does not have an issue with it. Keep,us posted.

Hi guys , well I've just rang his gastro doca nd asked how kong it's going to take for him to go ib he's been getting stomach every morning since his colonoscopy and last nite at football training he dropped to his kneed with stomach ache he was crying so much I had to get my hubby to pic him up , we took him outside and laid him flat and stretched his stomach muscles so his pain would disperse but that's the first time in training he's ever been that bad, we took him home gave him buscopan for the cramps and some calpol but this didn't help , my docs gona get back to me today he had stomach ache for 15 mins this morning then it just went , he's gone to school as his teachers are very good at spotting when he's no well as he dosnt like to tell them , I just feel he s got worse since the colonoscopy can this happen or do you think this would of happened any way. I feel so outa my depth with what to do for him, I'm usually the one that makes everything better for him.xx
