Non-GI symptoms appearing first? Endoscopy scheduled Tuesday

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia due to joint pain (mainly knees). Had skin rashes, mainly on my scalp which causes this thick plaque that sometimes itches and flakes off. Never settled for the fibro dx since it didn't fit 100%. Constant fatigue has been an issue throughout my life that I accepted as normal. Now, a few years later, I start throwing up with an inability to stop. After a month of throwing up daily it went down to once a week. Only 2 weeks later I'm back to throwing up to the point where sometimes I can't hold liquids down and even on an empty stomach I vomit water and bile. It has been nearly 3 months and I've met with a GI specialist and we have an upper endoscopy scheduled next week. Several friends who suffer from Crohns told me to look into the possibility that my auto immune issues may be linked to being Crohns, not fibromyalgia. A light bulb went off and I'm nervous for the endoscopy especially since they're putting me under and they said there's a possibility they may do surgery while I'm under if they see something. Now I'm regretting waiting so long to schedule my endo incase whatever is going on has just destroyed my body in the process. It just seems odd that if I have Crohns that the non-GI symptoms appeared first.

So far the only test I was positive for was an ANA. He said it was a low Titer and some people with no health issues test positive and not to worry. Just looking forward to something actually being found Tuesday. My friends and family have eluded that it's all in my head or it's just stress. So a positive diagnosis would mean the world.

It can be common for the extra intestinal manifestations or EIMs to show up first. Joint pain, skin issues like erythema nodosum or eye issues like uveitis or episcleritis are some of the EIMs.

If your concerned it's CD then a colonoscopy should be scheduled with the upper endoscopy since CD can be present anywhere from mouth to anus. Narrowing in the GI tract caused by CD, even beyond where the upper endoscopy can view can lead to vomiting. Because of this upper and lower scopes as well as imaging of the small bowel (most of which can't be viewed with scopes) are often utilized.

Hope you find answers soon.
