Overwhelmed

Hello I am 53 and just got diagnosed with Crohns but have been sick for a long time. They are giving me mezzavant for a couple months now and all it is doing is making me broke. Although there does seem to be less bleeding. The doc says that my case seems to be a mild one but if this what they call mild I would pity the ones that are severe. I was told that people who have tried medical cbd oil have gone into total remission. It's seems like it's impossible to get ahold of. I am in pain pretty much all the time now and can't seem to eat anything without getting the runs or cramps. Really don't know where to go.

You can order CBD oil without THC. I know in the US it is legal in all 50 states. They have it in pill form, or added into honey.

Thanks. Well I had been taking the mezavant for a while now and the symptoms had worsened. Cramps, urgency, diarrhea, coughing at night, dizziness when standing up to the point of passing out. I have quit taking it and guess what. I only went to the bathroom 4 times today with way less urgency. Coughing gone, and feeling way better. I know the crohns is still here but these meds they put us on are f_____ poison. In fact I believe this is a total conspiracy. They have a cure for this disease but there is no way they<pharmacuticals> are ever going to give up the billions of dollars they are raking in. If you do the math it is probably trillions.

Been three weeks now on no medications. I am told this is dangerous as the inflammation could be worsening. I just want to say that I know that this disease affects everyone differently but for me I can pretty much control this with diet. It is very difficult because recently I had to travel far to attend a wedding and the food that is laid before you during the celebrations is not conducive for someone with this condition. Pizza, alcohol, all sorts of sweets and wedding cake. Recipe for disaster.
I made it though.
I really believe that for me the cause of the disease was eating too much terrible food. Bad eating habits. Just quitting alcohol is half the battle.
Its taking me a long time to get an appointment with a specialist so it' s
really going to be interesting to hear what they have to say when I tell them this.

Yes it is dangerous to discontinue medications. The disease could be silently damaging your intestines. You should have a colonoscopy/MRI to find out what shape your bowels are in. You could be in a world of hurt in the future. I do not think that what we eat causes Crohn's. I had a very healthy diet before I got sick. It sounds like you had a bad reaction to Mezavant, and should go on something else.

Feeling your pain.
Find another doctor, ask about Azathiroprin ( imuran ) + salazaphrine. ( spell check these : )
Also try leaving certain foods out, e.g; bread ,eggs, milk.
Stick in there

You have my support Boggy. I would try to cut back on the alcohol slowly if it were me. It's probably causing more inflammation and worsening of your symptoms. Hang in there, we all care about one another in this group. You have found a good place to find understanding and friendship.

Hi Boggy.
Glad you are going to see a specialist soon.
What kind of testing did you have before to get your Crohn's diagnosis ?
I was diagnosed with Crohns at 57 years old.
Keep us updated.

My medications are the 6mp pill and Humira.
