Welcome to Crohn's Forum, a support group for people with all forms of IBD. While this community is not a substitute for doctor's advice and we cannot treat or diagnose, we find being able to communicate with others who have IBD is invaluable as we navigate our struggles and celebrate our successes. We invite you to join us.
If both of a newborn baby's parents have an inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and/or UC), which actions can they take to minimize the child's risk of getting an IBD in the future ?
I don't know that there is any way to minimize the risk of getting it, as we don't know exactly what causes it. Hopefully with 2 (or even 1) parent with CD they would have a heightened awareness of issues and when to be concerned.
They don’t know what causes crohns in kids or adults
My child was dx at age 7 but showed signed at 14 days old
No family history of crohns at all on either side
you just watch closely and as with all things for children hope for the best
