Pelvic mri

pelvic mri

Hi everyone,
I am on the hook for a pelvic mri with contrast on Friday to look for a fistula. If there is a stricture do you think it would pick that up too?

According to, "Inflammatory Bowel Disease, An Atlas of Investigation and Management", yes. They say,

book said:
MRI is a noninvasive, nonionizing radiation technique and is especially helpful in identifying precise localization of the disease. It is the investigation of choice for identifying the anatomy of fistulizing CD, particularly in the pelvis and perineum, and may be used to assess response to therapy. MRI enteroclysis is also becoming more widely available as an alternative to traditional methods of imaging the small bowel in the diagnosis and assessment of CD.
They then have a handy dandy little graph that says MRI is good for:
- Initial diagnosis (MRI enteroclysis)
- Initial assessment (MRI enteroclysis)
- Fistula
- Stricture
- Abscess
