prednisone causing bad side effects

Hi everyone I was just wondering if anyone is having bad side effects with prednisone where they can't think straight and their brain feels foggy and cannot concentrate at all. I feel like I cannot communicate with everyone and I can't talk well anyone. I'm also even more negative than ever before and I'm always crying and in a panic.I'm tapering down on this medication and just went to 25. I'm really struggling as I don't feel my self and I'm scared I will never be my self again. Is anyone else feeling like this :(

I was puffy. It has been a while since I have been off it but the disease itself makes me depressed. I have been weepy at times.

Weaning is the worst some are more sensitive than others to pred and weaning down takes your body one to two days to adjust to the lower dose
Let your doctor know your symptoms some times they can have a different plan or different wean
Good luck

I'm sorry to hear prednisone is doing this to you. I hope at least it us doing the job of eliminating symptoms and kicking inflammation?

My son had focus problems while he weaned. He also felt easily frustrated. He drastically slowed down the decline and that part was pretty quickly resolved. Call your dr and share what is going on.

I have this same reaction when on prednisone. I find it gets better the more your body gets used to your dosage. For me it got better as the days when on and also when the dosage was decreased.

You shall come back to normal at the end of prednisone! I get different side effects than you: hyperactive and full of energy, almost manic, really feels like a speed/psychostimulant drug in my case! I get these every time along with insomnia (3-4 hours of sleep only). I get all these side effects until Im completly off.

I am sorry to hear , i agree to call your doctor and ask. Meds work different with each person. I do hope you get this sorted out.

Thankyou so much, we told the specialist about some of the side effects I have been having so he is tapering fairly slow

I was very hungry, which I didn't mind haha, my face got puffy(otherwise known as moon face), and my joints seemed to crack more.

I like the enthousiasm I get but, the hyperactivity ruined my physical health 3 years ago! While on pred, I stupidly decided to engage in physical tasks that were WAY beyond my capacities and unfortunately this triggered an chronic onset of arthritis in my wrists, which i still have present to this day!!! What I engaged in was completly insane/ridiculous and people around me were telling me not to do it, but I was stubborn and firmly believed I could do it all. I was so wrong... :mad2:

I don't think pred is doing anything to me mentally but physically it's making me uncomfortably bloated, a bit headachy, and makes my heart race a bit. However, it is keeping my symptoms under control so there's no choice but to take it as they were making normal life impossible for a few weeks beforehand.
