Pulled muscle around stoma from coughing?

I've been full of a pretty bad cold/cough this week, and now everytime I cough heavily my stomach around my stoma hurts and feels like something is pulling. whilst my stoma has never prolapsed it feels as if that is what it is trying to do.

Is this normal? I've started putting my hands across my stomach when I cough but I don't really think it's helping. I'm a bit worried that one cough too many could cause bother for my stoma.

Rob, you could be working up to a parastomal hernia there. I got mine when I got a chest infection.

You need support garments if you dont have them already.

I second what Misty said....could be the beginning of a hernia. Probably nothing wrong with the stoma, just the area around it.
