Reaching breaking point!

Hello all.

I will put this in bullets to keep brief.

- Diagnosed IBS 2009 after 2 years issues.
- Diagnosed Fibromyalgia 2011
- 2 x flexi sigmoid & 1 x colonoscopy in 2011. 1st Sig was incomplete due to spasm blocking the way. 2nd showed inflammation and small ulcer. Colonoscopy ordered to look further around under sedation. Nothing seen as not having issues at that point. Was seen 3 months after Dr's visit....Dr diagnosed UC in view of history and previous sig. Asacol enemas used.
- 2012 locum Dr retracted UC and re-diagnosed IBS. Asacol denied.
- 2013 started to bleed after bowel movements.
- December 2013 fell pregnant. Buscopan stopped.
- July 2014 visit to GP due to 2 months of bleeding daily. GP spoke to specialist who advised come back after birth. 2 weeks before baby due, visited different GP who said she would ask original GP to send referral letter for sig.
- 13 weeks later called Endo unit to ask where appointment was.... Secretary advised never received a referral letter.... Called GP surgery to ask what was going on. GP secretary advised will speak to GP. Never called back. Chased up again Monday and was told nothing had been done.

So this morning, after the 8th visit to the toilet, bleeding etc and trying to care for an 11 week old baby who has started teething early, I lost it. Sat sobbing in the bathroom for 20 minutes and decided to call the surgery AGAIN to ask if my letter has been sent.

Sorry for a pointless post, just needed to get it out! I am going to ask for advice in the relevant areas on the forum.

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome.

That is so frustrating. I'm sorry you're going through this. A lot of people here can relate.

Sending you my support. Vent anytime you need too.

Keep making those phone calls (so frustrating!) until you get a solid appointment. As a "mom of many" I can say that probably the only thing worse than the Crohn's is probably sleep deprivation. With a teething baby you are probably exhausted!

Sometimes it's not possible, but if you can get Dad or Grandma or a paid babysitter to take over for 6-8 hours while you catch up on a few things and sleep even a little maybe it will help?

My heart goes out double for you...

I've had to look after a baby whilst flaring. It was very, very difficult!

If you have anyone who can support you use them.

Given the circumstances, that you have a small baby, and that a letter was lost, can you or someone else, be ruthlessly nice but persistent with the GP? Also, you might also be able to chase the consultant directly, or the IBD nurse(s) at the hospital. Where we are there are usually spare slots for emergencies.

Good luck.

Ugh, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have a 1 year old at home and can't imagine how hard it is to be looking after a little one while flaring. My heart goes out to you :(

I hope you're able to get a diagnosis and proper treatment soon. Don't forget, there's always the emergency room.

We're here for you.
