Red/Pink Fleshy Chunks in Stool. Need Help?

I am 20 years old, I have no GI history/problems. I go to the bathroom about 2-3 times a day. I went to the bathroom an hour ago, I was pretty gassy and the stool was half solid, half loose. I flushed and my toilet is a bit picky sometimes and drained itself and left some chunks behind. These chunks were red and fleshy looking. I picked a piece out, it was about 1/4", squishy, a little fleshy. The second piece was about and inch long and skinny. I picked that one up and it was more pink than red and looked a little mucusy in some places. I have been a vegetarian for about 6 or 7 years so of course I am very freaked out to see red, fleshy chunks in my stool! I have an occasional stomach ache here and there. Other than that I don't have any other symptoms of anything. I just really need advise! I get very anxious about any health related issue! Thanks in advance!

OK, relax. Breathe. Sounds like you passed some clots. (but I'm no doctor, what do I know). Well, I did pass clots and lose quarts of blood every 2 - 3 days for 2 months... So, the human body can withstand a lot. Which gives you time to go see a specialist. Pronto. (remember, I'm not a doctor, you need to see one). Your best bet is to see a GI. A GP might do in a pinch... if he/she is able to perform a sigmoidoscope, preferably a colonoscopy. Usually these are the domain of GI's only, but it never hurts to ask. The colonoscopy is the Cadilac of procedures to determine where the clots are coming from. The only real down side of a colonoscopy is the prep. Get thru that, the rest is easy.
