Remicade and Tonsillitis

Hi I've been on Remicade for about 3 months now and have had 3 infusions so far. The remicade works amazing for my crohns and I've been able to eat anything without intestinal pains, but I've also gotten tonsillitis 4 times in a 2 month period.

The first time was from kissing my gf when she was sick (before she knew she was sick and showed symptoms).

The 2nd time was because the antiboitics from the first time didn't kill it

The 3rd time was because the antibiotics from the 2nd time didn't kill it

Then I was healthy for about 3 weeks

And then I got it for the 4th time from kissing my gf when she got sick again (before she knew she was sick and showed symptoms). She works in retail and goes to concerts 2-3 times a week, so she's exposed to A LOT of bacteria all the time.

Everytime I got it, the tonsillitis was painful (hard to swallow) and accompanied by a day or two of 102degree fever which was awful. Then the antibiotics killed the stuff in 2-3 days and I was ok again.

Most of that was during the summer so it was bearable, but now I'm back in grad school with limited allowed absences and I'm really afraid of getting tonsillitis again so as a temporary measure I've decided to not kiss anyone until I find a solution. This has been very trying on my gf and she's planning on breaking up with me since she doesn't want a non-contact relationship and she really doesn't want to make me sick anymore. I am seeing a throat specialist next friday in hopes he can give a solution (my Remicade doctor is out of the country for another 3 weeks :\ ) and I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this situation and what they did to surpass it. Obviously tons of people are on remicade and kiss their loved ones without fear of the bacteria in their mouths, so there must be a solution...right?

Thanks,

I have been on Remi and Imuran for about a year now and have not had any infections at all. I don't really worry about it and just take the usual precautions like frequently washing my hands. I had my tonsils removed when I was a kid so can't help you there.
