Remicade in mexico

Hi all
I’m starting my retirement plans and my hope is to be in Mexico for 6 months a year. That would mean I’d need one, possibly 2 infusions while I’m away.
Does anyone have experience with this? I’m just starting me research now and don’t know where in Mexico I’ll be. Clinics and medication availability may play a part in where we decide to go

I assume that infliximab is available in Mexico, since providing Americans with just about every prescription drug you can think of at discount prices is a booming business in most border towns. But if for some reason it's not available you could consider living not too far from the US border - say in Rosarito Beach or even Ensenada in Baja California and then just drive up to San Diego for the infusion

I don't live in Mexico but I was born in Monterrey which is one of the largest cities in the northeastern part of Mexico. I do occasionally travel back home to visit family and I know for a fact there are IBD specialists that treat patients with entyvio, remicade and humira.

The city has several large hospitals and the university has a prestigious medical school as well. I have personally never had infusions done there since I'm on humira but I do have the name of an IBD specialists that you could possibly reach out to for information on infusions centers or clinics. This is his website: https://drmanuelmartinez.com/
He is considered to be one of the best in the country and is very active in the IBD community foundations in Mexico.

Early on in my UC diagnosis I did consult with a GI in Monterrey and he was such a nice doctor, great bedside manners and I could tell he really cared. Unfortunately he wasn't an IBD specialist so he wasn't able to keep me as his patient and that's how I came to learn about Dr. Martinez. I do live in the states so I didn't continue treatment in Mexico; I just got 2nd opinions from them.

Monterrey is a great city to retire in, there's part of the city/suburbs that are popular for retirees and have all the usual American stores and restaurants. 🙂

Thanks so much for that information. Since we haven't pinpointed exactly where in Mexico we will be going to, this will help with that as well :)

Your welcome! I hope you can find a nice place to retire without any worries. I forgot to mention that Mexico has something similar to our Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. Here's the link: https://crohncuci.org.mx/

Maybe you can reach out to them for some information on where you can find infusion centers across the country. Best of luck!
