I am taking Rinvoq, started off with 45mg i did ok on that and now I am taking 15mg. Now I keep having flair ups every other week and have gained 10 pounds. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what did they do ?? I go back to Dr. Next month.

When I researched patient experiences on rinvoq, I have seen comments about weight gain.

It can also increase the risk of blood clots, so natural blood thinners could be of use, though they can increase GI bleeding so do your research.

Why did your doctor lower your dose to 15 mg? Do you use any other drug? Do you have CD or UC? Where is the disease located? How severe? What other meds have you tried so far?

Was a big flop for me. I refused to give up as I had no backup( still don’t) and I stopped at my own accord as I it was making me worse than before. I informed the specialist that it really makes me feel really bad and can’t function daily and the flare ups were really bad and now I’m booked for a double balloon endoscopy and mri and will think of the next meds to try based on where my gut is( I had 2 surgeries already and only get 6y between them) I still have some intestine left 😒 I have put about 7kg on it in 6 months( I’m very careful with what I eat and active healthy lifestyle considering). Been on everything until now, so I don’t know what’s left to try.
The acne was horrendous and such massive sore boils! I know someone that’s feeling great on it but not me.

Hi, how did rinvoq make you feel worse, could you elaborate?

I also found a lack of efficacy with Rinvoq when moved to a maintenance dose of 30mg/day. My doctor agreed to move me back to the 45mg dose and said he has several other patients on 45. Of course Blue Cross fought it, but after appeals and getting the state dept of insurance involved the doc was able to get it through. Much better now - so far. I went through Remicade, Humira, Entivio, and Skyrizy, over the past 25 years so not much left.

Does 45 mg put you in complete remission?

I wouldn’t say that, but along with Xifaxin and Cortifoam if I eat very carefully and watch the quantities at meals, it is better. I will provide another tip - a bidet toilet seat is the best money I ever spent.
What side effects have you experienced with rinvoq?
