• Welcome to Crohn's Forum, a support group for people with all forms of IBD. While this community is not a substitute for doctor's advice and we cannot treat or diagnose, we find being able to communicate with others who have IBD is invaluable as we navigate our struggles and celebrate our successes. We invite you to join us.

Surveillance Epidemiology of Coronavirus Under Research Exclusion (SECURE-IBD) is an international, pediatric and adult database to monitor and report on outcomes of COVID-19 occurring in IBD patients.

What is the purpose of this registry?
The goals of the registry is to rapidly define the impact of COVID-19 on patients with IBD and how factors such as age, comorbidities, and IBD treatments impact COVID outcomes.

There is also a covid-risk calculator for IBD patients:

I just attended a webinar at Crohn's and colitis Canada. GI doc J-F Colombel was one of the presentators who also participates in the Secure-IBD.
So far overall, good news for us. We are not more at risk to get covid as it was once first thought.
Systemic corticoids such as prednisone are to be used cautiously during the pandemic. So far, its the only medication that appears to be a risk factor for worse outcome of Covid-19, especially in high dosage (above 20mg/day). So for those on pred, be extra-cautious while you are still on.

If you get Covid, you can tell your doc to report (its anonymous) your case in the SECURE-IBD for a better comprehension of covid and IBD.
