Hi
I'm 10 days post seton placement due to an intersphincteric fistula and I have so many questions! My surgeon didn't give me any post-op information about what he found or what to expect, so I am hoping people can help based on your own experiences.
Will it constantly drain and smell?
Will I ever be able to not wear panty liners, dressings or non-woven swabs?
How does it impact sex? (I am female and married to a male)
Will it drain during sex? How do I figure this out?
Will it ever stop hurting when I walk for too long or sit for too long not leaned to the side? (My fistula tract must have been deeper and further from the anus than initially thought as part of my seton is quite far away - I find I get pain here when there's pressure)
Can I swim? If it's constantly draining, how does this work?
Will I be able to wear a thong again?
How long will it be in?
How do you adjust to it? Not wiping, washing, etc; How do I live a normal life where I don't have to avoid eating to avoid the symptoms of my crohns and the frequent washing of the seton area?
I am aware that I should ask my surgeon some questions and I plan to when I have my follow up, but any advice would be appreciated.
