Should I go to ER??

Okay I'm going to try to make this detailed enough but not too long. Last Saturday I started to get an URI. I went to a dr about it Monday and got put on antibiotics. I saw my GI on Tuesday, but I felt fairly fine so we didn't discuss much (still waiting on insurance answers for some meds). Tuesday night I started have diarrhea. (I also started having hugh blood pressure about 3 weeks ago, and high pulse.) So I woke up with a high fever I've had since Sunday night. I called into work and saw a reg doc. He said my pain and the D were prob froma bad flare-up. He sent me to Observation at the hospital for fluids, IV steroids and pain meds. I went home a few hours later feeling a little better. Thursday I went to work for a while but finally couldn't stand it when my fever was 101, blood pressure was 156/111 and pulse 135. That dr didn't do anything for me. Thursday night and until now I started having bowel incontinence and terrible pain. For the most part I can't even tell when I have to go. My diarrhea started out a light brown with a few pieces. Now it's just light yellow and pure watery. Tonight I also started having bright red blood inc my stools. (I had a GI bleed in December, with lesions clear down to my nerves.) And when I sit on the toilet it hurts my peri area/anus. Now my question. I live in a small rural area that does have a hospital. But the providers don't know much about Crohn's. My specialist is 2 hours away. I don't know if I should go through the hospital here to get checked out in ER. Or call the hospital my GI works at tomorrow to see what he says and maybe go up there to him. Also, this will be my 3rd time to the hospital in 1 month. Which is embarassing and costly. Please anyone any advice would be great. I don't want to be sitting here if waiting is only making it worse. Thanks in advance.

Does your doctor have a person on call? If so, call your doctor's office now and ask for the doctor on call. Tell he/she what has been going on and get their advice. I hope all goes well. Keep us up to date.

Hi, sorry to get to your post late like this - did you end up going to the ER? Generally speaking, on the forum we like to say that if you're questioning going to the ER - just go! If things are bad enough that you're considering it, then they're bad enough for you to go. Your symptoms could indicate any number of things (obstruction, abscess, etc) and it would be best to go get it looked at ASAP and not let it fester and cause complications - an obstruction can cause a perforation which is potentially life-threatening. I know it's costly, but you can apply for financial aid through your hospital and hopefully get some of the bills dismissed. Please keep us posted with how you're doing and if you went to the ER. Hang in there!
