Hi, I am new here and wondered if anyone has experienced this and if so, what did it turn out to be? I have labia swelling on one side only, no pain. I had exploratory surgery at Cleveland Clinic where they went in and placed a drain tube and looked around. They think it is a vaginal rectal fistula but cannot see the tunnel. I have had a precious fistula before and have had 20 inches of my colon removed. To get a look at this, they did a MRI, A CT scan and another CT enterography. They are now telling me to meet with a GYN DR. They think it could have something to do with the bartholin gland. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Also, when I had surgery many years ago, they removed the illeo cecal valve. I now have uncontrollable diarrhea. Every time I eat anything I am immediately in the bathroom. It is like my stomach cannot hold anymore contents without first emptying what it in there to make room for the new food. Anyone else have this issue. It is a real pain to live with.

Thank you.

Hi Amy and welcome to the community :)

I agree with thermo that something like psyllium husk may be useful for you. Give this thread a read and see if you think it's something worth discussing with your doctor.

As for the swelling, you may want to post in our females only forum located here which under the Support section.

I realize this may sound weird, but are you of middle eastern/asian/russian descent?

I would like to hear your train of thought with that David. Have you found a connection between that lineage and bartholin gland issues or enterovaginal fistulas?

No, when I hear of genital involvement like that I like to check for Behçet's disease which can mimic Crohn's and mostly affects people with descent around the silk road region.

This is good to know, I can see where you were going with this.

David,

I will check that out, thanks. How do I edit my profile to change my name to something else?

Parks5 - check with your Cleveland Clinic doctors on what to take for your diarrhea.
(As far as the Diarrhea is concerned if you have had your valve removed then you should take a bile acid absorber like Cholestyramine or Psyllium seed husks)
You are in good hands with the Cleveland Clinic doctors, I have been using them for years. I have had Crohns since 1988.

Hey Parks5,
I have had Crohns for 27 years now and when I was first diagnosed, I had labial swelling on one side that occured twice. Both times I had to have it lanced because the pain was unbearable. So I empathize with you. I did have a fistula which healed after I decided to try using Vitamin E. I would pop the capsule and spread the gel over the entire area. I have not had a recurrence in about 20 years and the fistula closed up. It worked for me, perhaps it will do the same for you. Atleast it won't do any harm because it's a natural product. Good luck!
