The unknown

Hello All.

I have about 12 hours to go for my colonoscopy and I can't sleep. I guess I can start off with what has been going on with me. I have always been told that I have a sensitive stomach and would get car sick real easy, but I could eat anything that I wanted to. Then in the last 5 years I started noticing that I was getting sick faster after eating and certain foods would trigger either I have to go right now or would literally lay me down for the whole day. Two years ago I had my gallbladder removed and I knew that it would take time to adjust to that and see what happened with my diet. Things were never normal since then regarding my diet, getting bloated, up and down weight loss so I just chalked it up as there goes the gallbladderless body again.

Then around christmas time I started to get really sick, fatigue, memory was going everywhere and my eye sight starting getting worse. Then I started breaking out with rashes on my ankles and literally clawing my back to shreds from itching so bad. I started getting concerned when I would use the bathroom and it looked like sausage skins and blood in the toilet. Then I would get bad stomach pains and in the middle of the night I would wake up with vision of no color and just black and grey. I went to the doctor and the GI specialist immediately suspected Crohn's. I was then referred to an opthamologist and I have cornea abrasions and he immediately suspected Crohn's. So for the last week I have been taking steriods for my eyes and dilation medicine for my eyes. The dentist wont touch me right now even though I have severe lower jaw pain until the GI specialist clears me after the diagnosis. All I can say is that people that just scream change your diet have no idea what someone is going through either with a possible diagnosis of Crohn's or official diagnosis of Crohn's. I would not wish this on anyone. Constant pain and being tired all of the time.

I can honestly say the prep for the colonoscopy is probably the best my insides have felt in a long time and I don't even mind using the bathroom since the cramps aren't as bad before the prep. At least I know why the multiple trips to the bathroom are happening.

As for the diet....pretty much the only foods that I have craved in the last few months is chicken on the grill. Anything fried is a no go, chocolate is a no go and vegetables with seeds in them are out of the picture. This might sound crazy.....but beer has tasted good in the last few months with no side effects for bathroom trips. I know that is terrible to say because most of us work during the day and I have to find something else other than beer. :yfaint:

Anyways......I just wanted to say hello to everyone I am prepping myself for the colonoscopy/endoscopy in 12 hours and what the diagnosis is. I have read alot of threads on this forum and trust me I feel alot your pain and misery. I just hope that this will eventually control itself or become somewhat manageable. Sorry for the grammar and spelling, but I am tired.

Best of luck. I know it's hard, but try not to dwell on what you can't control...it is what it is. A colonoscopy will do you plenty of good and hopefully provide answers to what your problem is. As for diet, it can be tough. You reallllly need to watch what you eat and take notes on what reacts good/bad to your belly. Keep your head up, gotta do what ya gotta do!

I was wondering if there is a connection between car sickness and IBD: since I am on IBD medication I can travel alot better.

Good luck with the scope.
