This is it..

My name is Kevin. I was diagnosed w crohns in 07. At first it was just mainly the pain but now my biggest issue is bowel control/diarrhea.. I'm also diabetic. Not sure what else I want 2 say right now, but.. Found this site while searching 4 kombucha(sp) n crohns together on google. We'll see..

Hi Kevin,
Welcome to the forum! This is a great place to share info and get advice and support from people who are going through similar experiences.

What meds are you currently on? Have you had any tests done recently?

Hope you find the right treatment to get you feeling better

Meds. Doc put me back on asacol but after dose 1 I went into a flare, so.. None. (Besides insulin and imodium) & no tests done recently.. Homelessness makes doctor visits difficult 2 say the least.. :'(

So sorry to hear that you are dealing with homelessness on top of your health issues.

I really hope that there is a way for you to get treatment :ghug:

What country are you in? I'll try to make sure that someone with experience of your healthcare system comes by and replies!

Hi kdjohnson. Welcome to the forum! :)

I'm very sorry to hear about everything you're going through (I read your other post in another thread as well). :( Knowing what country and state (if you're in the US) you're in can help us help you better. The other symptoms you're experiencing sound like active Crohn's as well (the skin lesions and what sounds like a possible abscess in your cheek). In my area those who are homeless have access to health care and dental services. Not too sure about seeing specialists though, I'd have to look it up but again would need to know you're general area.

I'd be careful with the homemade kombucha tea as it may be doing more harm than good (if you're currently using it). http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/expert-answers/kombucha-tea/faq-20058126

Ok. US. MN 2 b exact.. not taking the tea yet. Saw my dr. Weight up to 141! Antibiotics given 4 the abscess.. and have an appt 2 get my teeth out but I have 2 cover 350 fee 4 anesthesia tho, of which I have nothing so far. Prayers are useful 2 any of u that would. Blood sugars coming down a bit 2! Wish me luck..?

Good to hear that your weight is up and that you have antibiotics for your abscess

Sending you the very best wishes for health and good luck :ghug:

Sorry for the late reply kdjohnson. Here are some resources for you:

https://www.nhchc.org/hchdirectory/mn/
http://www.westsidechs.org/programs.php?clinic=10
http://www.hennepin.us/residents/health-medical/clinics-services

If you're able to see a GI doctor they may be able to prescribe Remicade which has programs to help cover the costs.
RemiStart: http://www.remistart.com/
Johnson & Johnson Patient Assistance Foundation: http://www.jjpaf.org/how-we-help/

Other medications also have programs to help with coverage if you contact the manufacturer. Humira has a similar program like RemiStart: https://www.humira.com/global/savings-and-co-pay Talk to your doctor about what medication might be best for you. Asacol is topical so even if it helped some it wouldn't help enough because Crohn's can cause inflammation deeper in the intestinal lining.

Although it looks like Minnesota has expanded it's Medicaid coverage. http://www.medicaid.gov/Medicaid-CHIP-Program-Information/By-State/minnesota.html Have you applied for Medicaid? This is government run free health care which means that just about any medication that's prescribed will be free. Your doctor visits and tests will also be free of charge. Have you applied at your local Social Services office? While you're there if you haven't already, apply for Cash Assistance. I'd provide a link but I don't know what county you're in. This might not be your county, you have to apply in your county: http://www.hennepin.us/residents/human-services/cash-assistance

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

I forgot 2 tell yall that I got all my teeth removed finally almost 3 weeks ago. Little bit of a slow healer, so... wish me luck.

Good luck with the Geelong. If you don't mind me asking, how and why did all your teeth get or need removed?

Sorry I'm pretty new to this
