Ok Guys ive been smoking for 9 years now and I know how bad smoking is for Crohns so ive decided to stop! Today is my first day im using the nicorrete lozenges to try and help with the craving. I can use any prayers, support, or ideas on what helps the best when it cones to stop smoking. I really want to do this an Im praying im strong enough to quit. Wish me luck!

I have found the E-Cigarettes to be a bit helpful. But for me, overall the cold-turkey method has always worked better whenever I tried to quit. You just have to push through that 1st month hump and you will be on the right track. Maybe it will help to know what to expect?

Some of the things I experienced....irritability, hunger or a desire to fill my mouth with something since I didn't have a cigarette anymore, restless legs, teeth grinding and at one point headaches (I got that and knew some other ppl who did as well) but it passes after a few days. Exercise of some sorts and/or be active/busy to distract yourself from smoking (I tend to get the urge to smoke when I am bored and feel I have absolutely nothing to do).

Do your best not to surround yourself too often around people who smoke, ESPECIALLY during the first few weeks of quitting. Even if they do not try to encourage you to have one, the smell of and the act of watching them smoke one is FAR too tempting!

You will know you've made progress when you eventually try to have one and it tastes disgusting or afterwards you really wish you hadn't done that.
Best of luck to you.

Re read what you posted just doing what your doing dont smoke again and use meditation.

I quit smoking two years ago for my Crohns and my boyfriend. Was just in the hospital and they said I had the lungs of an athlete!!
Good luck to you. I read Alan Carr's "Easy way to Quit Smoking"
I was told no one has ever gone back to smoking after reading that book, and I am in that statistic...
