Hello.
A quick back story. I've had problems with abdominal pain and blood in my stools since 2008. I had my first colonoscopy around this time and it showed Ileitis. I was put on steroids and Pentasa. I had bloods taken and nothing was unusual. I then had a series of other tests including a barium x-ray, a CT scan and a White blood cell scan, and again, nothing was unusual. The docs didnt have any answers so the testing stopped. Some time after I passed a lot of blood in my urine, was sent for a cystoscopy and all was fine. A year or two later the same symptoms regarding my bowels returned and I again went for a colonoscopy, this time it found nothing wrong. Bloods at the time were fine too. I again had the same symptoms a few years later and again all was fine with colonoscopy number three, bloods, as per usual, were fine too. Over the last few months the symptoms have returned yet again, this time with a lot more blood (quite a concerning amount) and much more regularly (either every day or every other day.) So far I've only had bloods taken and yes, of course, they came back normal. I do have both Crohn's and Coeliac in the family but it seems unlikely that it's either of these that is causing the problems. Haemorrhoids have always been ruled out too by the way and nothing has ever been felt on a physical examination (although the last one a short time ago was noticeably more painful than any I've had before.)
My question is: has anyone been through something similar and been given any kind of alternative diagnosis or reason for these kinds of symptoms, particularly the passing of a lot of blood?
