Vertebrae Fractures?!?!

Hi everyone,

I'm a 17 year old male with Moderate to sever crohn's colitis and have been getting intense back pain and was rushed to the hospital! thought i had another kidney stone but only to find out I DO have a kidney stone floating in my kidney but that was not the problem! I have 2 fractures in my spine at the T 9 and T 10 vertebrae. I was just wondering if anyone else has had these problems and how do they cope with it because its extremely painful even worse than crohn's sometimes.

Thank you everybody

I have not had any fractures in my spine but it is possible. Osteoporosis is a very real possibility.

This link contains information about spinal fractures caused by osteoporosis along with treatment options etc: http://www.webmd.com/osteoporosis/guide/spinal-compression-fractures-symptoms

Crohn's and osteoporosis have been linked not just from certain medications like steroids but also from malnutrition. "Among risk factors for bone loss in patients with Crohn's disease, malnutrition plays a prominent role that deserves attention when planning treatment programs." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16112594
