Just wanting to know if you have lost/gained weight after being diagnosed? Do you think certain medication has an effect on either way?

Lost weight initially, gained it back and then some with entocort. Losing it now that I'm off entocort but not yet where I started. Having a bowel resection in 10 days so i'm assuming that I'll end up losing again, but I guess that remains to be seen.

For the first 4 years that the Chron's was active and I got a flair I would stop eating and would lose a lot of weight, I lost 15 lbs in 1 week one time.
Now even with a bad flair I am about 30 lbs over what I want to be.
It's just seems to change how it effects me as time goes on.
Humira seems to be working and I am going to start working out a bit so maybe I can drop a few lbs.

Hi for me I lost a lot of weight, half of my body weight, i was 78 kgs and i went down to 44 kgs, right now im stitting at 49 kgs

I only lose weight while in a flare. Only med that made me gain weight was Prednisone but it was all water weight and I lost it after stopping it.

Thanks for your replies, i dont really understand all the different meds, but i have not been on anything in 9yrs ?(my choice not too) and apparently mine is severely active at mo... i dont seem to lose weight but gain... About to start Azathioprine.. and hoping i dont gain.. Just have recently (4months) gave up smoking after 15yrs and have gained alot. Really wanting to lose and would be nice if this disease i have is good for something..lol
I think i need to learn more about foods as i still eat what ever i feel, even if it gives me pains which i still dont know what ones do. :)

Finding the foods that cause you problems is one thing that will help a lot.
I had to give up.
Raw Veggies
Seeds and Nuts
Corn-Popcorn
Spicy foods
Hot sauces of any kind
chocolates
Dairy
And a lot more, kind of a pain to keep up with all of them, then it's a real pain to eat something bad.
A food diary will help.

My GI wanted to put me on prednisone along side with Aza but i refused to go on prednisone because of its weight gain gift it has! :)

Still working out the food side.. i could eat 1 food lots of times and be fine then eat it another time and it effects me so not sure what that is.

Had that happen a lot at one time and the funny thing is if I waited a month or so I could eat that same food again without any problems.

I have the same problem with the food situation. I can eat something several times and it doesn't bother my stomach. Then randomly it will. Started a food diary to see if it helps.

In the months leading up to my first big flare, I don't remember weighing myself but I do recall buying clothes in a size smaller than usual (size 8 for the first time since puberty). I then lost weight rapidly (a couple of kilos a week) during the big flare, mainly due to vomiting my meals up!

Since being on meds my weight has gradually but steadily increased (put on a kilo every couple of months).

And I never have fit back into those size 8 jeans I bought!

Oh- and in the last few months I have really packed on the weight ;) thank goodness for elastic waistbands!

Not sure if mine are meds dependant.
Started out at 175 pounds as a teen.
Dropped to 140 before diagnosis. Some rebound when on steriods initially, gradually lost its effect.
Couldn't go over 150 pounds for the next 15 years, and on one hospital stay I dropped below 122 pounds (at the start of the hospital stay).
About 4 years ago, got back to about 155 reguarly, not apparently related to meds.
Currently high 160's, again not apparently due to meds, and it seems to be mostly healthy muscle. May be due to changes in sleep patterns more than anything else.
