Hey everyone my name is Matt and although I'm not new to Crohns I'm new to the site. I was diagnosed with Crohns in Oct 2009 after two back to back week long stays in the ER due to extreme stomach pain. The bummer to the diagnoses was that I was just 22 years old, single, and a year into an awesome job of being a police officer. I was beyond scared of the news, I thought my social life and career would soon becoming to an end. The upside to my story is that my life and career are both chugging right along. I'm still the police, started a family, and have an amazing 9 month old baby girl.
I've had no surgeries yet and take 9 mg of entocort a day and have been doing so since my diagnosis. I've had a decent amount of flair ups but have been able to handle them fairly well. Although, since the birth of my daughter the stress has made my flair ups come around more often. I'm still figuring out what foods are good and bad for me and ways to keep my stress at a minimum so any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi Matt and welcome to the community! First off, congratulations are in order regarding the new addition to the family!

How to reduce stress as a police officer? :) If you're able to figure that one out, I think you'll be a billionaire :D Actually, I do have a sheriff deputy friend that swears by yoga now that I think about it.

As for diets a decent number of people here have had success with the paleo diet or specific carbohydrate diet.

What kind of symptoms do you have?

Again, welcome!

I am glad to hear everything is working great for you, the stress always gets me as well. Even when I don't feel like I am getting stressed out my Crohns says otherwise. I would recommend one thing and that is to transition from steroids to 6mp or biologic. Usually you want to save the steroids for flare up situations since they are so quick acting and you can develop a tolerance to them. But more importantly you can develop adrenal insufficiency where your adrenal glands shut down permanently due to Cushing's syndrome.
