I was wondering what happens when people stop modulen and bring back food how did they feel was it hard? Did they feel sick? Was food just not as speaking as it seems to be now that I can't have any and did anyone just turn round and say they bad enough and start eating again as I'm close to doing that as it's not sitting right in my stomach it's making me feel sick and and I'm fed up of having no food. Plus I struggle with dairy anyway so I'm mind blown as to why they have gave me a nutrition drink made from casin and milk fat

What happens when you stop modulen or eat after finishing modulen

How long have you been formula only ?
Typically it takes 6-8 weeks to heal the gut with formula only
My kiddo has done it 3 times
It’s not pretty
The first two weeks are extremely difficult
The minute you reintroduce solid the inflammation comes back unless you already started on a maintenance med
Ds started maintence med of 6-mp the same time as formula only
At dx
Modulen is a semi elemental formula
Not the same as whole milk proteins
In regular milk the protein chains are very long
Modulen this long chains are cut up into small pieces that the body turns into amino acids
The next level of formula would be elemental formula
No intact proteins - all broken to amino acids already
These would be vionex eo28 splash(neocate ) neocate jr
Elecare jr
Etc...
Ds currently drinks 50% calories from formula
Neocate jr chocolate (tastes foul ) and the rest solid food
When you start back on food the inflammation basically comes back
You would probably need oral steriods instead
Steroids have bad side effects
Formula only does not
To help with wanting to eat
Woth your GI permission -ask first
Table sugar sprinkled over crushed ice to chew
Some allow gum
Homemade cotton candy out of pure table sugar
Dum dum lollipops used as is or crush to make homemade cotton candy
So talk to your GI and let them know what is going on
Eating solid food doesn’t really help
It makes things worse inside
Even if you don’t feel it outside
Being solid food free drinks on so many levels
But it does help

He was 7 at dx
Went through Christmas and other holidays as no solid food
Talk to your doctor

What a trooper! I feel sorry for him I'm only on this for 4 weeks they said and at the moment I'm on azathioprine predisolone and calcium tablets. I'm just fed up of only being aloud water and modulen everywhere you look there is food or someone eating I've had to sit in a seperate room in work away from everyone as I just feel down being around everyone eating ill have to ask if there's anything else I can have to help the need to eat
We also did d smell plates
Meaning he only smelled a plate of food
Or put a potato chip in his mouth to taste it
Didn’t chew and then took it out
Chewing ice definitely helps some
4 weeks is good
