What is YOUR weather like today??

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

Well Merv you obviously don't believe I have a right to my own opinion so I wont offend you any more , goodbye everyone. Ron.

11c and sunny but with a cool breeze off the coast. We thought the coast might be busy so we cycled up the river and around the marina....Bloody hell ,I've never seen so many cyclists and joggers in so short a time or distance. You can't tell me these folk are all locals.
It was very difficult to keep to the 2mtr separation...…...

Well Merv you obviously don't believe I have a right to my own opinion so I wont offend you any more , goodbye everyone. Ron.
Ron, without you here we all lose, please stay around. I enjoy your input and how you describe life in your country. If it was possible I would pass a glass of Scotch through the screen.

Please understand that in no way am I questioning your right to any form of opinion. My objection was that neither you or I,or anyone else in this State is in any form or 'lock down'.We re subject to some personal inconvenience, but that is a small price to pay for the wellbeing of others. Our mutual situation is is one of voluntary isolation, which you have already alluded to in a previous post. Nor, unless one has been in contact with infected individuals is any form of quarantine imposed on individuals. That is the difference difference between opinion and fact.

There is no need for you to retreat from this Forum.Ron. You stay and I will go., simple as that. Problem solved At this time of life and under the present circumstances it is therapeutic to invest in positivity rather than the opposite.

This is literally , my Last Post on this thread. so to you Ron and everyone else all best wishes for the future.
Merv.

Lovely and sunny today. Really windy and a bit of a chill too. Thinking i might just get the winter overblanket washed today (yes, Carol, I do have one of those as well as the duvet). It should dry nicely in this weather. Must say i was looking forward to the Olympics and football tournaments. I do feel for the athletes though. They've got to be far more disappointed than us even. All that training. Mind, they are probably living off the high of all that exercise.

Hm, strange, my posts from all of you yesterday were hidden. Can't believe this. Ron, please stay. Your one of our backbones. Yes, i'm certainly feeling this lockdown and i will call it a lockdown. I am vulnerable and actually i admit to depression especially when all i had planned (hoping i would still be here) to get on a live just a bit more of my life. Now this. But we do need to understand everyones viewpoint and emotions over this bloody virus. Everyone here counts.

For goodness sake Ron and Merv shake hands and let that be an end to it,you crotchety old buggers.
Or you could do pistols at dawn when the virus clears up......we don't want to lose either of you so please.please don't go.....I'll be bursting into song in a minute.....nice day here, went on the bike then got my summer gear swopped with the winter stuff.Bet your life the temps will drop tomorrow

My viewpoint is that globally we are all in some form of a lockdown, for little is moving, airlines are grounded, the economy is stuck for the time being. Nothing to get emotional about, I come here to provide support in any way possible no matter how small. I will not tolerate any kind of keyboard warrior arguing for its not my thing, and I am too old and weak. Ron, you are a strong person, and you provide company for many of us stuck at home because of Chrons, I enjoy communication with folks on the other side of the globe and your descriptions of life over there.

Today is one of those blustery cold spring days where I can do very little except watch the birds, and the winds swaying the trees. 2C

Just to stop you bursting into song Carol. It is sunny and 28c today. I appreciate all of your friendship. One of the few activities going on here in Australia is maintenance. Lots of areas are repairing infrastructure damaged in the fires and recent floods. Particularly roads which are always in need of repair. Low traffic flow has made road repairs a lot easier for the various councils to do those repairs. Unfortunately during national parks work on doing maintenance on facilities on North West Island, one of their young workers was attacked and killed by a shark. It was in the afternoon and the workers were cooling off at the back of their boat. The young man was the last to try to leave the water. His injuries were so bad he succumbed before help could arrive. I know the island well ,I have swum fished and dived around it in the past, very sad. Take care all,Ron.

Glad you're here Ron. I am not blessed with the more naturally positive character. I recognise this and know either anxiety and depression affect me and then i helplessly swing into the 'omg' scenario. Unfortunately i don't have anyone at home to distract me from my pessimistic outlook.

Our governments aren't doing anything useful like mending roads etc. I cannot believe the suffering Aus has experienced this last year. I am rather jealous of the paucity of cases down there and in NZ. So bloody sensible. Not us lot. Mind, we're not protesting against lock down like the Americans. I feel for NY city. Somehow this is going to cost trillions for Britain, but other nations have had more deaths through ordinary flu than this virus. It seems Europe has a different more difficult strain to cope with. This tells me we are all going to come across this virus at some point in the future and it will continue to mutate. We just all need a touch of it to bring our immunity.

Talking of immunity, a lady on a cancer support group has just gone through a phase two trial for an immunotherapy for ovarian cancer. Looks like i've got the worlds worst guts then lol. Trust me. Just awaiting the correct pill with the right microbiome for my guts and i could live all over again. I'm sure many are hoping just to be shot of the crohns and any other ills.

Really warm and beautiful skies here. It's a bit like summer, but we often get a few good weeks of nice weather in Spring. Unfortunately it's followed by a crappy summer. I think we are nearer to Ron's temperature down there, so definitely more like an English Summer day. Enjoy it everyone.

It's sunny but the breeze off the coast is definitely chilly. We were out on the bikes at 9am having been for the weekly shop at 7-30am.Les stays in the car. There were still lots of joggers, cyclists, dog walkers and children about. What do they do with the rest of their day I wonder.
I've happy to have lots to read and some catch up TV,so slobbing out will cancel any good the bike ride did

We are looking at a run of fine and sunny weather with temps in the high twenties with a couple of low thirties . New Zealand has been doing really well Di there has been some talk of working with them to get out of this mess. All models are reliant on keeping our borders closed to overseas travel. In Australia quite a few of our state borders are closed and Wa even has regional borders mainly to keep indigenous areas safe. The WA premier seems to be taking care of business so Scott and his family are in a pretty safe state Carol. For whatever reason all of the Oz pollies seem to be doing all the right things so far, Ron

I've got my govt pack of food goods, lol. Has Les got one yet, Carol? You wouldn't believe whats in them lol. I've popped some of the apples on spikes for the birds and asked someone to take the stuff i can't have to a food bank lol. ~The bread has a sell by date of March 2021 on it. I thought it was strange. Not that i eat that either. Not giving it to the birds though as some are feeding young. Not too chilly here today. Had to rewash my old Spanish over blanket again as the wind blew it over yesterday and it landed in rain water and on the flower bed. It's on the line again and very nearly dry.

It be tourist season soon, Carol. lol. imagine. Supposed to be on lock down but actually people are out and about. I do like that it's quieter if you do have to go to a shop and everyone is now being sensible.

Ron, NZ have done brilliantly. We have 15,000 travelling into our airports each day. No such closed borders. Pathetic attempt at keeping us safe from our Boris and team. We are overpopulated admittedly, but borders could have been closed and we should have been told to wear face masks. Seems they work. Right, back in the garden for a read.

It would appear that Australia has done things right by the numbers. It only makes sense that road crews would take advantage of the reduction of traffic. Over here everything is shut down, instead of performing spring maintenance and repairs to our roads and infrastructure they are doing nothing but let it continue to crumble, paying crews to stay home instead. Our officials are now speculating about reopening the economy in the future using guestimates together with a lack of proper testing for the virus. The numbers on record do not reflect the full impact of the virus. I have a feeling that things will stay closed for far longer.

For now I take all the precautions, having stayed home for two weeks now, when I do grocery shopping I will wear a mask and use hand sanitizer when I return to the vehicle, wipe down my groceries with a rag of diluted bleach. Every little bit of prevention helps.

Today its clear and cold -12C this morning with a stiff wind.

Another nice day.I was going into town but my guts are not up to it today.I'd feel safer if the public loos were open and to be honest it's really the only thing I'm missing during the lockdown.Spoke to Scott earlier and things over there are as you say Ron.He's serviced the caravan and painted his boat and trailer so all dressed up and nowhere to go.
I said to Les y/day that the councils should take the opportunity to fill the many thousands of potholes in our roads, but our government has gone to hell in a hand cart,it's scarier than the Covid….Di., we didn't register as I'm managing OK for now.I know I can register if we need help
but there are so many desperate folk I'd rather sit back until we need it.Hopefully we won't...Scott's very worried about us,but worry never solved anything....Keep checking in friends so that I won't worry about you...CHRIS are you there ?

I have been very worried about you over there particularly today when they added all of the nursing home victims it is not good, home is the best place to be. I'm glad to hear Scott is ok , we had a very low infection rate here today,we just have to be careful. It was another beautiful day here with the temp reaching 30c. I had my phone consult with my nephrologist. I didn't mind it but he doesn't like not seeing his patients in the flesh. My results were not great , just acceptable. I am having trouble finding stuff to eat. It is easy to grab a sanga or have something on toast but carbohydrates really do not like me. Grilled salmon is good but a bit expensive at the moment. Ron.

The phone has been the best way to connect with family and friends during this difficult time and goes a long ways to break up the monotony of the day. Once the snow melts back some more I can work my afternoons on the wood pile. Grilled salmon sounds good, I have a couple of rainbow trout fillets left I am enjoying sparingly until I can find more. Today I will enjoy one of those bacon and cheese filled burgers, inexpensive, but delicious.
-5C with thin overcast.

Yesterday didn't happen for me. Dr phoned. THAT CONVERSATION!!! Can he put DNR on my files in case of corona virus? I told that shit from 'The Whore' in Pakistan i did not want that on my records. So he harped on about effing ventilators and resusitation. I've pretty much self isolated since beginning of August. I simply cannot trust the NHS now. How do i know whether he has put it on there anyway? I went out bought tobacco and a small bottle of vodka. I was distressed and effing upset. I didn't eat i just drowned my sorrows and unfortunately spent this evening puking badly. I know, my fault.

So, apparently only 54% of our beds are full. They've cancelled all cancer and chemo treatment. No surgeries. They have to let it grow for duration. Why the fuck won't they use the Nightingales for covid patients only. I'm at least so grateful that i'm not going through my infusions now. I did phone my MacMillan nurse, some good news, my cancer marker ca-125 is at 18,should be less than 35, its at its lowest since the start of this journey, but disgusting i probably won't be treated should some sod give corona virus to me. Let's all pray our crohn's hold strong for duration. My pharmacist is along the road around 150m away. They do have delivery but i'm too close. They also have a lady who works there and goes past my bungalow 4 x per day. I phoned and asked if she could drop my prescription either over the garden gate or press doorbell and leave it there for me. This unfortunately is too much trouble. He won't have his staff do that for us who live along here. I hate the NHS. Don't read the press. Our NHS workers are all looking to post vids of themselves dancing sing, taking selfies whilst in ICU, and no, the people who need help have to sit this out. I wish i could suggest the NHS sends them to Aus or NZ for their treatment. Britain refuses to be responsible.

Today when the light comes up, if it's nice i am going out. I'm not looking to get this thing, but i'm not looking to stay home to protect what are easily the most disgraceful nhs staff. Let's hope it's a nice day. Some of the blossoms on the trees around here are absolutely stunning this year. My car has better four walls than my bungalow. It will be wonderful to go out. That's if i don't fall asleep as i've not gone to sleep yet. One long 48 hour day. I'm picking myself up and i'm going to remain positive. ~Stay safe all.

Hugs Di. I wish they could send you over here. Because of our low infection rate, our hospitals are not over run. All along the hospitals have been doing stage 1 ,IE life threatening cases, cancer ,strokes ect. They have now opened up for elective surgeries. It was not about concern of infection that they were stopped at all, apparently a lot of them use up a lot of safety equipment that could not be replaced at the time. Quite a few companies have re tooled and are churning out masks and gowns and even respirators. Take care of yourself Di ,Hugs Ron.

Our fresh fish has gone up in price due to the boats not going out....I had a txt from my GP yesterday saying that people are staying away from the surgery due to the virus and to please make an apt if we need to and he will talk on the phone and see us if he thinks he should. Before
the Covid we'd be lucky to get an apt.in 3wks.People are doing DIY dentistry too...…..a nice day again but we could do with some rain,it's been awhile.

Eeee Di.,your language is getting worse hahaha....I'm absolutely furious at that request,How bloody dare they ?
Thankfully you've still got fight in you and can stick up for yourself.I don't know how folk with less spirit would react though.
Sending hugs and support your way me darlin' don't let the buggers get you down.Sending hugs your way xxx

There is such a focus on covid that the health care system has forgotten about all the other things that make us ill, it gets frustrating. Meds have been reduced to 30 day refills only which is forcing us to expose ourselves to the risk of getting the virus more frequently than when we could get 90 day refills. There is a lot of chaos when politicians play the roles of the medical experts. I also wonder how we as nations are going to pay down the massive spending spree our governments have been on since the covid outbreak, over here they have been spending like they are in pre election mode. Sending big hugs out to you Di.

Thanks for the moral support. I'll get over it pretty soon. tis a lovely day again. I've got mating hedgepigs again lol. This time they have left it later and haven't trashed my daffs. Must say though, that patch of long grass is completely flattened. I have loads of baby hedgehog poo. Bet it will be the same as last year. They will bring the babies along prob a 3 am when i can't delight in them. I'm heading off out to get my meds i think. It's too nice to stay in the garden.

Ron, my daughter had a bowel resection to a Melbounre Hospital on Monday. She was a level 2 case. I am learning give an injection by messenger tomorrow.

The weather was mild today.

Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery Catherine. You will be fine with the injections. For 18 months I had to self inject methotrexate once a week. The first one is always the worst but they will tell you how and where to inject. It was funny I was told with the methotrexate to grab a roll of belly skin and fat and inject into that. I had plenty of targets. Good luck with it . Best wishes,Ron. We are having a run of perfect weather with averages in the high 20c's and low 30c's and very light winds. Cheers Ron.

ANOTHER nice day, cloudless and sunny but with a cool breeze off the North Sea as has been the norm lately. Hubby's had the hosepipe on out the back watering new plants and filling the butts.....I would prefer some wet and windy days (sorry Di.) so that I would be content to stay indoors.

Catherine, learning to give an injection by 'messenger'? Sounds so interesting lol. Let us know how it goes. Hope your daughter recovers fast. Is she the one that was trying raw food diet some years ago? Hope she's doing well in life generally.

It's another beautiful day here today. Don't worry Carol, it's our summer and winter will approach very soon. I can assure you. This is Britain. My wisteria that i planted 4 years ago has decided to throw out a few flowers for the first time. I had told my neighbour last year it was coming down if it didn't flower this year. It has lol. I've been for my drive today. The roads are still very clear and any shops do have long lines of sensible queuing. thank god i didn't need anything. The crops are coming up now and there are no bare trees apart from the lovely dramatic dead ones. I'm finally enjoying a few drives out. Hadn't done that much during chemo. The police here in Northamptonshire are rather heavy handed with anyone out. They can stop cars if they wish to give the inquisition to. They have also been reprimanded for it. So hopefully i shall enjoy seeing nature in sunshine.

So proud of the way the antipodeans have handled this. Sweden is doing well too. And... Vietnam are coping also. China have got it back...nothing more to say about that lol. Let's hope it dies out soon.

Nice to hear Ron speaking of 'perfect weather'. Bit unusual, but pleased to hear it. Sound great to me Ron, but don't tell Carol I said that, lol.

If I was twenty years younger , physically well and did not have to worry about covid , I would be out at sea terrorising fish every day. But im not,im not ,and I do have to worry about covid so I am sitting at home thoroughly P'd off. Ah well such is life. We are expecting some showers middle of next week. I hate to say it but we really do need some rain again. Ron.

We're all P'd off Ron,Les in particular. His norm.is to ask me what we fancy doing or where we fancy going tomorrow ? He still does it and has come very close to annihilation via frying pan......Although I know I'm lucky to have him a little less would be favourite.
The trees are almost at their best now and the air, without the pollution from traffic, is sweet. But I really need a hairdresser as I'm beginning to scare people.

[/QUOTE

Yes, she has interest natural treatments. She has done a lot of travelling since leaving school. Health has been pretty good.

Her crohn's disease is pretty much silent. Puts up with a lot of pain. Had colonoscopy in January, no real symptoms of pending trouble. It led to further testing and 50 cm bowel removed during the COVID-19 elective surgery shut down.

Lovely and sunny again. Watering the garden a bit. I've got a hedgepig sleeping in the hay bag again.

Well, i've had the letters through from doc. Seems they have put me on End of Life Care Register! Oh well, bit of a punch in the face seeing as all bloods are fine. Never mind. I'll phone my Macmillan nurse on Monday. Gonna get some vit D from the sun now.

I might be wrong Di., but does that sound marginally better than DNR ? I hope so.But you do sound as though you're not about to go ANYWHERE soon.xx
Had a walk in the park.Lovely sunshine but a pretty cold breeze is still coming off the sea down from Norway/Sweden.
The blossom on the Cherry trees was fluttering down like gentle snowflakes and bluebells are pushing up in place of the daffs.Life goes on....

Hang in there Di, the healthcare system is painting patients with an awfullly broad brush by making claims like this. We are all unique, and we have our strengths. I remember my doctor making the claim that I would have 10 good years before serious complications would set in, well its closing in upon 20 years now, and I am alive, kicking and the smoke coming from my chimney comes from my own work of cutting and heating with wood.

Today is another real spring day with temps rising into the teens. The rabbits; snowshoe hares are changing their colors from white to brown now.

Looking really good today. Not me, but the weather. I'm going to enjoy it before Autumn returns next week. I think i'll go for a drive around somewhere different today. I fancy getting out, see some different scenery. The rapeseed fields are looking ok now too. Actually feeling brighter this morning. I always seem to take a bit of a dive when bad news strikes. I just wish there was water for me to dive into, lol. Head back up, i can still walk tall, even at 5 feet. Maybe i shall put my heels on, or maybe that should be heals. Enjoy your day everyone.

Us too Carol , if things continue to dry out we could finish up the same as 2019. We were supposed to get some rain today .Nothing. Next chance is next Tuesday but I will believe that when I see it. Take care out on the road Di, We have had some dreadful crashes over here in the last week. Ron.

No sign of blue skies and sunshine here. The land needs that rain, and it will refreshen everything nicely and help grow everything on. Very little need for heating now too. I wish we could get signs of proper dropped numbers of dead. Time is dragging badly.

No rain and still cold.I might have to get the old winter woolys out again. We've had a surge in idiot speeders too Ron but one of our MPs said we'd had a drop in shop lifting ,perhaps that's got something to do with the fact the shops are shut ????
we are in excess of 20,000 deaths in the UK.not including care home sand still folk are wanting the lock down lifted.

I think we only had six new cases in the entire country overnight. Wa is allowing groups of up to 100 I think from next week but I again I think it relates to family groupings. Their borders both state and internal regions remain closed. Bit of rain tomorrow then our first taste of cool next weekend. I may have to dig thru the cupboard and try and find a blanket ,I rarely use them now days. Ron.

Sunny days and light winds. Govt said we can go back to fishing after next Saturday.
We have the same situation here too, and people are not allowed to go camping on crown land. This doesn't make any sense as these activities spread people far and thin and gets them out. Perhaps more seriously is the importance of maintaining good mental health; and getting out into nature goes a long ways to maintain happiness and optimism.
Cut wood yesterday afternoon, it felt good and I got some needed sun on my arms and legs. Today its gray, +7 and expecting some rain.

Possibility of some showers this afternoon followed by colder weather. One of the upsides of covid19 and the social distancing is that we are experiencing our lowest incidence of flu virus cases for many years. It is hard to find plusses at the moment but that is one. It will be interesting to see what impact the cooler weather brings. I nearly said colder but realistically high single figures celcius overnight is about as cold as we get tho some times the wind chill from strong SE winds makes it seem worse. Ron.

Scott says it's 8c where he is.He's planning on taking his younger daughter camping this weekend, for a birthday treat, she's 14,but it's probably more for him.Australia is allowing socialising in packs of 10,as long as it's family.
Chris, what's a boony hat ? Daniel Boone springs to mind.....Cold and grey today and maybe the rain they've been promising, later.

Same here Carol , cold front coming thru with some rain in the next couple of days and night temps down to 8 c by Sat. Only one thing I hate more than dealing with Telstra I have to get some spares from Cpap direct tomorrow. The last mask they sold me was garbage and now they have supposedly found some spares for my old mask. I had a sad moment at the chemist today , I finally gave in and bought a walker, one with the four wheels and brakes and a seat. They have taken all of the seats out of the shopping centre. After doing my shopping I was able to sit down and let the pain subside. The saleslady at the chemist said I should buy it , if I feel that bad at seventy I am not going to be any better at seventy five. Fair call. Ron.

Bugger that Ron,I think you've done the right thing.I often look longingly at those walkers.Les says I should buy one but I'm a wee bit vain and pride myself on looking and behaving at least 15yrs younger than my age....despite my back screaming for a sit down.I know I'm a daft old bint.Enjoy your self but no speeding mind.

It was 1c this morning. The sun has come out now and we're heading in the right direction... 6c at the present time. Carol, a booney or boonie hat is the type that soldiers wear in the jungles. They have a brim all the way around and shade your head, protect from bugs as well as keeping water out of dads hearing aids.

Maybe it will be something that comes and goes. Periodically my hip hurts so bad I have to resort to using a cane, and then it goes away for several months, sometimes longer, this has been going on for several years now. When it does hurt, its difficult using the stairs and having to feed the wood furnace. If it gets to the point where I cannot get around at all without a cane I will be forced to move into a place without stairs.
10C with sunshine, Going to cut wood in the afternoon.

I can relate, mother is having similar issues, Buff. Her pain tends to come and go, so we tend not to think it's the femoral cap that the issue. It may be a lower back issue with deferred pain in her case. I, personally, think she needs a chiropractic adjustment. All the best to you folks. It's sunny and 20c at the moment. Cheers!

Not a bad day but no sun and breezy. We had a walk to the park and found ourselves on a path we don't normally take.We were surrounded
by lush greenery and birdsong and not a soul to be seen. We're so lucky having this park just over the road from home but having grown up here we tend to take it for granted. It's the same with the river and the coast......Dianne,I read that hedgies are doing well this year due to less traffic and also the fine weather is encouraging them to have two litters.Better get your stores in.

I couldn't agree more, Buff. We should have cheap gas and hydro electric. Instead we sell it to, "Murica" for less than we pay!? I like the Americans, but that's just a touch too much. Fair pricing for us in Canada would be a dream come true.
It's a calm, yet rainy one here and 9c. Looking on the bright side of things... it sure does help with the water bill.

Some one left the fridge door open last night. The southern alps in Victoria and NSW had a good dusting of snow yesterday and strong winds. The cold front reached Qld overnight with some strong Sw winds. The winds are loaded with dust and I have been sneezing non stop this morning. That is the norm for me I take25mg of phenerghan morning and night and use a nasal spray morning and night. In the current environment it can get you treated like a leper. I just tell people if it was corona I would be dead. Ron.

No notifications again! I thought it a tad odd, though i've received notifications for the joke thread. Odd.

Better weather today. Still cloudy and threatening rain, nature has responded with extra green shoots on aall trees and plants. My wisteria looks to be a purple one. the flowers are just opening now. I sent off for a kg of live mealworms for the birds and hedgies and my god, they had missed having those. Nowhere had any for ages. Robin is delighted with the constant supply (lazy sod).

Our summer has def gone. It's chilly out there. I might attempt a tad my garden clearing today, but i think i'm gonna stay in the warm and watch youtube videos.

Sometimes, i think i could do with getting in a bloody wheel-chair, my pride won't let me and if it comes to that i shall stop going out entirely. but Ron, you get that push along seat. A few of my friends use those on days out to places and national trust properties. they always like a sit down. personally, i can't do without seats out in public either. Our seats are fine here, but no bloody loo open anywhere. Best stay in. buff is gonna be sweatin' it out with all those cords to chop. The hard work will start soon. Enjoy today everyone, but stay safe.

You are not wrong Di, if I had to chop that much wood to stay warm I would almost certainly freeze to death. I am getting used to the wheelie walker. The brakes are savage , I've almost been over the handle bars once. The other problem is that people with shopping trolleys use you for target practice. I may have to arm it. Down to single figures in the morning and a strong west to south westerly wind. Ron. WE are backing off on restrictions tomorrow. We can even travel a max of 50 kilometres as long as there is only two adults plus children. I think Qld only had one or two new cases all week and none today . WA northern territory and ACT have had none overnight. Govt is being very cautious. They are doing mass testing and if figures spike in the next two week things will get strict again.

I remember my scooter Ron, almost went over the handle bars on that a couple of times. I too would probably do the same with a wheelie walker. Times i've been out and my legs have swollen, gone very weak and hurt like mad and no place to sit often kept me in for fear of not being able to get home again. the arthritis plays up still, but i do appreciate if i can get out. Mind, i'm better taking painkillers before i go out and exert myself. I bet you're enjoying that single figure temp for now, lol. I think we have Carol's sort of weather today.

It's sunny now and i've put more bulbs in.

It's a lovely day with blue sky and sunshine. Went for a bike ride along the river and there was a really cold brisk breeze off the sea.Lots and lots of cyclists and walkers and kids and dogs. You could tell some weren't locals 'cos they were wearing t-shirts and shorts.Purple is not a good colour for legs.Especially wobbly ones...……..Di. how about getting a shooting stick then you could plant yourself in the flower beds for a sit down. You can tell I've thought about it.....

A summer like day coming up, as its actually warm this morning, the kind of warmth where there is no chill, it should reach the 20's today. I cut quite a bit of wood yesterday, arthritis in my hands finally forced me to stop. As I see it, there is no choice but to buckle down and work through the wood. The pay off is huge, I have a warm house where I can be comfortable without having to wear and layer up clothing, sweaters and still be handed a heating bill going well beyond $3,000, probably more like $4500 for the comfort level I need. The thing is that money is needed for groceries, medications and other basics. My standard of living would be very poor without wood heat as my income does not even meet the federal definition of the poverty line, yet I am forced to pay all the regular taxes and costs of living that come with owning one's home and keeping a vehicle on the road. I could not imagine life in a cramped apartment, no vehicle and eating crappy food like many others have to do on that income level.

Wow, expensive heating Buff. I couldn't afford that. I'd have to find a bear to snuggle and hibernate with lol.

Really sunny again. Lovely weather. Should i venture out and see if i can buy a bird table. I fancy another as i've just moved the one in my back garden near to my kitchen window. Can't believe they come so close. Jackdaws haven't ventured there but the starlings have. I have a blue tit that isn't afraid to come feed too. It's so i thought i'd buy one for my lounge window. I know the pet store is open as it's next to the chemist lol.

13c and the chilly breeze has gone.We were promised showers this week, but nothing so far.We could really use a downpour, the soil in thtake e flower beds at the park is dry and deeply cracked and the new bedding plants are seriously wilted. The goldfish in the park pond, including
two of ours, have risen to the surface,so it must be warmer. They are a good size, about eight or more inches but are staying in the reeds as the gulls know they are rich pickings.Hope you got your feeder Di. we had to take ours down as the pigeons were taking over and the neighbours were whinging. We have stuff hidden in the climbers and shrubs though.

I understand your situation Buff , I find it the same here. People look at a lot of the things I do and they ask why don't you just pay someone to do that for you. The short answer is that I know how to do the things I am doing . I may physically struggle to do some of those things but my only income is the age pension and I can't afford to pay someone else to do those things. I recently had a situation where my home phone and telephone service was out. I had to use the services of an ombudsman to try and get technical help. I was visited by a tech but it was no help. I subsequently worked on it myself. I was able to resurrect my modem and found a faulty micro switch in my phone. Both are running ok now. That does not make me a tech genius merely a little more self sufficient than most.. Our weather is cool , clear and very windy. It is also very dry. Because my unit is set into the side of a hill I suffer from heat in summer but I'm well insulated in winter and I'm fortunate I don't need any heating. The temp at my computer never drops below 20c. Ron.

It's a throwaway society now too.The younger generation wouldn't dream about repairing anything, just throw it out and buy a new one, usually with the "plastic".And they upgrade everything at the drop of a hat so that they can keep up with the neighbours / friends.
9c but feels warmer as the sea breeze has slowed

By keeping things going one can save a lot over the long term, I always look at what life will be like years down the road rather than life in the moment and live it as such, if I did not I would be broke. My cell flip phone is 7 years old, but to me it still like new, and heck my microwave oven goes back to 1981 and still runs like a champ. With snow on the ground for over 6 months of the year, heating bills are large, there's nothing like the warmth that comes with wood heat.
Today the weather took its usual setback, Flurries with temps just above freezing.

Bit of a glum day here today. the sort of weather i'd whinge about but Carol would love. No sun, no rain, not very warm and a bit drab at best. I got my bird table and i'm chuffed with it. Now just need to get the birds used to the strange thing in the garden. Maybe it smells of new wood or something. So far they've just used all that i have and ignored my efforts to please them. Unfortunately it's probably big enough for jackdaws to get on so i might hammer some wire around that will only allow small birds in to it.

So have you put your fish in the park pond, or am i miss reading that, Carol? I love ponds with fish in. Haven't seen my fish as my pond is a disgrace. I had hoped to get it professionally cleaned but now we have lockdown. Nothings getting done. Ron, i'm not that old but the arthritis in my hands has me cursing and taking ages to get done. Tis a right old problem but i still try to do things for myself as it was natural when young. Our mums and dads and other relatives showed us plumbing, basic electrics and how to fix things. I cannot believe how the young of today do throw their new toys out their prams simply because newer exists. They are trashing this planet far more than us oldies.

Can't believe it's May already. I want to see some of this year. I shall be whinging far more about lockdown and how depressing it is rather than the British weather for once. I hear rain pounding down. Obviously we shall have a good soaking (i hope) over night to water our lovely plants and give wildlife a good refill, mind, i always have bowls around my feed stations.

We have had few cold days here Melbounre. I got sacked from giving injecrions after two days and her boyfriend took over. They actually let me into hospital to learn how to give the injection.

22 cases dx in Victoria over night. 19 linked to the meat works cluster. 2 overseas travel and 1 of unknown origin. We have been very lucky so far.

I bet that trumped up the ego of the boyfriend, lol. I''d be too squeamish. I managed humira pen for a while but i didn't enjoy it one bit. Sad you still have a few cases, but brilliant to hear that you've done way better than most nations. God knows when we can return to normal.

Hugs Catherine, I hope things are going ok with your daughter. I hope we continue to remain lucky. I'm not sure I will be climbing out of my foxhole real soon. Stay warm down there we only copped the tail end of the cold front up here. I've never seen so much snow so early on the Alps. Ron.

It feels pretty warm here today, but you know me,someone's just got to strike a match and I break out in a sweat.Seroiusly considering putting the summer duvet on the bed,but Les is still feeling the cold due to his cancer treatment...May the 4th be with you my friends...

Sunny with a chill in the air, temps went down to -5C overnight and they are calling for a week of below normal temperatures, but at least the rain and snow are holding off. I watched the movie called 'Planet of the humans' very interesting and a wake up call. I fully understand where they are coming from with the biomass energy problem given how our forests have become tree stump deserts.

Lovely and sunny again this morning. I'm really loving this phase of Spring sunshine. It does seem to happen that we get a few good weeks of sunshine in March or April and this year is one of those. Shame people can't go on their holidays and enjoy it. Tourism is taking a mega hit from this pandemic. My happiness is taking a bit of a battering too. Would just love to go out and about with friends, even just a National Trust place, but no, it's a question of stay home. At least i have a garden. I think that on the 8th of May our street will have the socially distanced street party for VE day 75 years. Should be fun lol.

WE are expecting some rain tomorrow and around 25c , it is only getting down to 14c overnight. Back to sleeping with just a sheet. Had to do a bit of grocery shopping and a visit to the chemist. The wheelie walker was good. I had to sit down three times but it is simple when you have your own chair. I got a letter from the hospital to have my cardiac revue. I always go in and they do an ecg and sometime an echo. I was going to ask why I am constantly leaking troponin , the heart attack enzyme. When I was in hospital for it they rang my heart specialist and he was not interested. Obviously nothing has changed with him as he has scheduled me for a phone consult. At least it will give be a chance to hang up on him. Ron.

I have cut a lot of wood in the past week, 3 full bush cords processed so far which is a bit more than half of the heating season's worth. Going to keep at it while I am on top of my game. Moving and piling it is another thing, but that will come later. Cold last night at -4C, clear skies, cool and good for wood cutting.

I'm waiting in for postie today. It's beautiful out there again. I feel so spoilt with good weather but we can't go anywhere other than local. My garden is becoming bigger by the day as i heave back the overgrowth and ivy. the brambles have been bad too lately. Probably as i did very little last year what with being in pain and chemo and all that everything went by the wayside. It's looking slightly better though which is spurring me on whilst we have something of a Summer, lol.

I could do with a good old journey out with these cobalt skies and no clouds, but lets hope it stays until after lockdown. We're officially the worst in Europe now. Stay safe everyone.

Worst in Europe and second worst in the World...How are they (govnt) going to wriggle out of that then ? I hope they don't think a (sincere) apology will suffice....Lovely day here but still a chilly breeze.Temps rising 'til the weekend then maybe snow in the North early next week.

Thought I had better check the board, I haven't had any notifications for a while. Sounds like every things going fine, woods a chopping ,mack is easy riding. I have done very little it has been quite warm, 27 c tomorrow. The pollen ,grass seeds or dust are playing merry hell with everyones hay fever. They tell us if we even have a minor runny nose , sniffle or cough , go and get tested. I'd be going every day. We are officially coming out of lock down. We can travel up to 50 kliks ,picnic ,go fishing or boating. People are even allowed to go and see their mothers on mothers day. First stage of the letdown will last 4 weeks, then they will review it and do two more stages at 4 week intervals. All the best Ron.

Its cold, -6C overnight and they are forecasting flurries later. The weather people claim a piece of the polar vortex has moved into the area and bringing some polar air with it. Everyday I have been putting in the afternoon on the wood pile and the work is showing. Then I can service the snowmobile and put it into storage. Got to do these things before the blackflies emerge. Good to hear you had a good ride on the bike Chris. They are starting to lift the restrictions a little bit at a time, my big concern is that it is still too early.

another lovely day. Naughtily spent most the day chatting to neighbours not 2 meters apart. Not that they go out either. We are all sick of it.

Carol, apparently Bude is exactly the same. The tourists have arrived with visible camping stuff. Some got sent home lol. I nipped to Tesco for a few bits and have only just got back. It's busier than i had imagined! (I don't mean i was there all day! It's just everyone is obviously going after 8.30 thinking it will be quiet. It's not). Tomorrow will be lovely weather, so Carol will not be on her bike, although i think we too are getting the Arctic Blast next week. I put my winter bedding away yesterday, typical.

Ah, Chris, doesn't matter whether you peddle, patter you feet or use some kind of horse power. Tis nice to get out and go somewhere other than the local roads. Hope you had the road to yourself. The birds are lovely this time of year. I love watching birds pick nesting materials. I'm actually watching a live feed on fb/youtube, and nasty male Blue Tit has taken two wives. They both fight like mad to sit on the eggs. It's so sad. Last year i watched a very similar circumstance but they had created themselves a cup in the nest each. Tis hard for the daddy bluey but serves them right.

Got my flags up on display, wanted to do the 2 mins silence, neighbour turns up and chats like mad. Missed it, lol.

It's going to be 24C, please take note world, we don't often see 24C even in the British Summer.

Enjoy your day. (I might refresh my skin colour today, Carol)

21c and after yesterdays ducking and diving on the bikes we decided on a quiet (?) walk down to the river.....hahaha.Bloody madness !!!
Some people have no respect as we all know. They come up behind you and then are quite happy to let you step into the road to allow them pass safely !!! Got home with a back ache, gut ache, sore feet with the heat, and sweat running in my eyes.So all in all a really nice day....Bring on the rain.

Pleasant weather, highs of 27 lows of 15c. Warm northerly for the next couple of days then a cooler SW change. In a few weeks I may be able to go on a fishing holiday Ron.
